If someone take policy for 12 years and due to some reasons not able to continue to invest on after 2 or 3 years. can we surrender policy? Or what is the process of surrender policy and charges?

Are lumsum amount and income benefit amount same? If not same from which we can better..,? Can we switch income benefit to lumsum amount in between policy period? Pls reply
