Mechanically, it looks a lot like the ET-8500 I just bought, the pickup roller looks just like it's the same one. Apart from the inks which are different, the bottles are the same, and the notches of the bottles also. As for the results, the ET-8500 does a really fantastic job. On Epson's Ultra Glossy paper, it looks and feels just like a photolab product. Some even did a blind test between prints from 6 colours photo printers, and viewers were unable to distinguish between the ET-8500 prints and others made with "real" 6 colours photo printers like the Epson Surecolor P700. Epson printers have come a long way with the reservoirs and print quality for the general public! Congratulation for an informative video. I'm off to see your other video comparing the P700 and the ET-8500.

I’ve got a photo booth and plan to buy a better printer for it. I’ve been researching dye sub and the Epson D570 (which looks like the D500, perhaps different model numbers in North America). Besides the Photo Booth, I’d like to offer some 4x6 prints in my photo studio. Am I correct in thinking that the 6 ink quality is better than dye sub 3 colours? I don’t mind the few extra seconds/print if the quality is better.
I also would love to know approximately how many 4x6 prints would be produced by a full set of 70ml inks. With dye sub you can know exactly what you’re getting and it seems to work out to between $0.20-$0.25 Canadian per print with dye sub media. To make it comparable the 6 bottles of ink would need to print about 800 4x6’s. Which is just 2 packs of paper. I’d really love to know if it would do that many or more. If I order one today (April 30, 2024) I can save $65 CDN on the full printer/media set.

What is the price per print inc ink and paper? Does it use the same ink as the dl1000?

the price is determined by the consumables, and does not depend on the printer, if the original Epson consumables are ~$0.09. ink (UltraChrome D6) d700 d800 d500 d3000 identical

So is that 9 cents per print, including ink and paper?
