Hey Skylabs! Love your channel too.
@@mikecampbell5856 Actualy in Japanese they say "Tekunikusu" ... lol :D
Because we always have!
Always bow when saying honorable corp.😂or not lol
Teck-nicks is how it’s supposed to be pronounced
When people say " They dont make gear like they use too, Well they do you just have to look for it and be willing to pony up " Damn the high end Techics / Yamaha gear looks great!
It is Technics not Techneeks, no other word in the English lasnguage has an "I" pronounced as "EE", I am English so what do I know.
Well it’s a Japanese company. Owned by Panasonic. Technics themselves pronounce it with the long E, not the short I. It’s always been pronounced with the long E here in the US. In fact before seeing this video I’ve never heard it pronounced with the short I, that’s a UK thing.
Someone above mentioned they used to say “Audio-Technica” but that can be confusing because that’s a different company, unrelated to Panasonic.
How about pizza, naive, machine, casino, Christina, Bolivia, Cincinnati? I’m sure you could come up with more that you actually use if you gave it some thought. On the flip side we have a county here in Ohio called Medina that the I is actually pronounced as a long I yet outsiders routinely mispronounce it Medeena. Modern English is a messy complex language that combines syllables, words and pronunciations from many other languages. Even in England you don’t speak it the way it was several centuries ago. In fact just like in America you sometimes mispronounce your own words. Like when starting a sentence w/ “Look” but it seems the K is dropped off. Cajun folks, a French descended group in Louisiana, USA speak such a strong dialect it can sound incoherent to the rest of us. Watch a Japanese commercial advertising Technics. They use the long E yet it seems they add a subtle vowel in the middle to make it a 3 syllable word. It’s just how they talk.
In the '70s, I remember "Techneeks."
Love these videos. Definitely give us your impressions when listening in person. Almost impossible to hear a difference over youtube. Can't wait until the next time I road trip in your area, so I can check out the store in person!
I asked chatGPT and it said,
The proper pronunciation for the Japan Audio brand Technics is "tek-NEEKS."
So it must be true.
Must be true! Least we know what the real answer is now haha
The winner of the amp wars so far is the 240 watts @ 4 ohm Fosi Audio V3 Mono bundle ($280 for 2 mono block amps and a 48 volt, 10 amp power supply). 2nd place goes to Emotiva for the 300 watts @ 4 ohm BasX A1 mono block amp at $500. Amir at ASR tested the V3 mono and ranked it "Excellent." (Ranked on distortion free watts per dollar, not how pretty it looks.)
The difference between the 1000 and the 700 is huge... The 1000 sounds waaaaaaay better.
Great feedback and it really does
I love there Technics amps. I bought my 700 from the Music Direct based on looks alone. Not always a good play... but that time it really payed off sonically!
Tech nicks in the UK,we say it as it is written
Okay, now pronounce "Lieutenant", lol.
This is great! Love hearing from across the pond!
And we love the videos, keep em coming!
Nice gear but it's a real shame the nice gear costs a fortune now. Used to have a big selection of good gear for reasonable prices. I remember when Technics made a ton of affordable nice gear.
Ya didn’t even LET THE GRILLES DRY before putting the HPM-100’s on the floor???
You guys crack me up…..
I've looked at the pictures from the inside of that amp and it looks great. I hope they will be successful. You should have show them, it's always interesting to know how they're made. We all can see how it looks outside. But having a idea of how they are build would be great. It's the most interesting part.
Tech-Neeeeeeeeks
Nice Dan! My haters must still be sleeping haha
You're right. I call it Tek Neeks. In any case Technics is special to me. My father passed down his SA700 to me when I was a Teenager. I owned a SU-G700 for a short while but sold it because I had a chance to get my first Mcintosh integrated. I wish I hadn't of sold. I love my Mcintosh but I want the Technics back. I would love the SU-R1000 but I don't think that I can make it happen. So, I'm going to get the SU-G700 MKII.
Well I have one in stock when you are ready! Do you still own the SA-700?
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard No, I sold it to get the Mcintosh. But I wish I hadn't, so I'm going to run a 2-channel setup in the living room. I'll get the SU-700 MKII and use my Node which has an HDMI ARC input, for streaming and TV audio along with my father's old Technics SL-D2 turntable. I have a pair of Mofi Sourcepoint 8 and KEF R3 Meta (Indigo Blue). One pair I'll use with my Mcintosh in my 2 channel room and the other with the Technics in the living room. I don't know which will go where
TECKNEEEKS! You Win!!!!
The 1000 has a bigger Presence even on the crappy Phone! BUT the 700 is an Awesome Integrated.
Could you post the Album you played?
Thanks! Pal!
I got a pair of 1200 MK2s new in 1993. Recently had them refurbished by KAB and put on Isonoe feet. I have a 12" Adam sub right below the mixing table and zero feedback. Sub is on cheapo Amazon SubCone Isolation Feet.
Tech "niques" V Tech "nicks" ,,,,, I was surprised to learn that when first advertised on TV in the US the voice-over pronounced it "Tech-niques" and it stuck. Here in Aus. it's Tech-nicks...it doesn't matter; they sure made some nice equipment in the old days, Sansui too.
Truth! Thanks for sharing!
I love my su-r1000 in black. It have all type of connections on it and everything you put on it sounds fantastic.
Thanks for sharing!!
Lenny, are these 2 amps class A/B? I’m new to the hobby and learning. Not a fan of class D. These look like a hybrid but my knowledge is limited.
Im having a mechanick work on my car not a mechaneek.
That's a good one.👍😁👍
How do you pronounce colonel? Many words are not spelled the way they are sound. The name Siobhan is another. I know you’re just being funny and I don’t get some of these spellings either; I’m merely pointing out that it is fairly common.
Tek neeks told us once in an ad the proper pronunciation.
I liked the techniques you used to show all these Technics.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video as usual Lenny. It's Techneeeeks! LOL
Thanks Mike! Good answer haha
So glad I bought my last year of production [2010], hot-rodded by KABUSA and Thedelihaus, one owner original Tek-neeks SL1200MKII when I did. It was a steal @ $825 delivered to my door by the original owner. I'll never require another TT.
Nice! They last forever, thanks for sharing!
Nice!
They sound very nice but compared to my Pioneer SA9900 it's a transistor radio 😅
Dang what else is in that system!
The Marantz SACD 30n streams as well. Uses the HeOS platform.
Good input! Thanks for sharing!
Boy, I don't know, if I was in the market for the bigger Technics, I'd have to consider Accuphase, those look so cool.
Well enjoy today’s video!
Back in the seventies and eighties we used to call it Audio-Technica
It's definitely tech-nicks, like niss-an, sol-der and hee-yun-day
🤣🤣
My dad was a rep in the 70’s and 80’s. It’s tech-neeecs. ✌️
Just like the commercials pronounced it
There's the American way and there's the correct way... BTW, is it Nike or Nikee?
Listening on my TV sound bar the 7000 was just more of everything like you said the 700 sound like the little brother.
Yeah that’s exactly how it felt, same profile but more of everything
whats the McIntosh piece next to the HPM's?
Tech Neeks. No one and I mean no one from the 70s said Tech Nicks. The smaller amp sounded muted. The large amp sounded open and dynamic.
I did! 😉 and I'm somebody
I guess you got me.
The Kenwood with the gun metal finish is one of my favorites
Isn’t that nice! Have you ever had one?
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard I bought a KA-9150 but FedEx dropped it and destroyed it. Such a waste of a beautiful piece. But I did find a perfect KA-9100 to replace it.
TECHNICKS!! but thats coz im in the uk. . . . love ya hair cut btw ;-p
Haha thanks man!
I LOVE Technics gear , BUT.... AT $ 10 k ?????????...Not THAT much of a fan...LOL...THANKS LENNY !!!!!!
TEAM TECK NICKS! ✊🏼
Whoaaaaaa Tech Nicks supporter #1! Thanks I was getting worried nobody was gonna choose that side! Hope you guys beat my side!
As was said, is Mechanics “Mechaneeeeks”? Only with particular accents 😂
Wow!!! That sounds amazing
Team Techneeeks
It's Tech-Neeks . I own a Tech-Neeks vintage SL-3350 it works like a charm.
Oh sweet! Have you had it for a while?
@ThatGuyWithTheBeard About 3 years I got it on Facebook market place for $125 still has the stacking spindle, they seem to be hard to find. Still looking for the 45 adapter.
There are a lot of great separates you can purchase for $10,000 and have cash left for lp's and cd's
According to the company, it's Tech-neeks in the USA, and Tech-nicks elsewhere - or so I am told!
This is true and I confirmed it haha! Good info thanks for sharing!
Hell yes it's "Tek-neeks", and also Nikon is pronounced "Nye-con" and not "Nick-on". This is going to upset the "aluminium" people.
- Probably not as much as hearing you try to pronounce "aluminium" 😂😂
Who says Nick-on?! Haha great stuff there
@@IncognitoChild
I have no problem pronouncing aluminium or aluminum. The thing with that word is that both spellings are accepted. A great channel to watch showing our quirky differences is "Lost In The Pond". It's informative to see things from different peoples perspectives, and that fellow is hilarious.
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard
I think almost everyone pronounces it that way except for the U.S. It's all about how it was marketed.
@@chrislj2890 Oh well, you failed to see the joke and only re-inforced the point : Technics is only spelt one way 🤣
- It simply highlights the subtle difference between American and English Language, spoken and written
The way you pronounce it is correct. That's the way it's pronounced by the Japanese, and they should know (lol).
Hahaha nice! Thanks for adding that one
Hahaha nice! Thanks for adding that one!
Technique is not spelled Technic so, why would you pronounce Technics as techniques? That makes no sense. It's TechNics...Techneeeks isn't even a real word.
Correct, absolute cockwomble pronunciation.
Exactly, it really is not difficult 🤷🏼♂️
Because it’s Japanese. That’s how they say it.
Probably because we've seen commercials from the 70s and 80s and they pronounced it the correct way. Teck-neeks I have never seen a Technics commercial pronounced Tech-nicks
@@erieeddie8683but they don’t
My stepfather used to own a business that sold them in the mid 90’s. He went to the consumer electronics shows (in the US) and talked with Panasonic reps.
You’re pronouncing it right, the way the companies reps pronounced it. Anyone who tries to rationalize a different pronunciation is making a fool of themselves.
Because i can read and speak English, it's not techniques. It's Technics.
🤣🤣🤣
Techneeeecs - only in America! (American not English) 🤣👍
I think the funniest story I have heard was when Sony was looking for a trading name. It was said that they chose "Sony" because they thought Americans would easily be able to pronounce it . Unfortunately they were wrong. Americans pronounce it "Sonny"😁😂🥴
Enjoying your content, love seeing Tech"NICS" products new and old (it seems they are one of the few Japanese brands still making an effort [along with Yamaha] unlike Sony) keep it up👍😎
That Sony story is true and hilarious
Aside from their TTs most of what I remember from Technics is those super cheap giant cabinets with "separates" and matching speakers that my friends parents had in the 90s, god those things were awful....
Its super cool to see Technics back and making more than just TTs but I think they need some entry level models to bring people into brand like what Yamaha does with the S301, 501, ect.
Unfortunately every Japanese A/V manufacturer (and pretty much everything & everyone else) turned to **** in the nineties 😂😭
@@IncognitoChild Yeah, I guess thats kinda true. I do remember seeing Sony ES gear in magazines and Pioneer Elite as a kid. Technics I literally though was Panasonic's budget brand they used because it wasn't good enough for the "Panasonic" name.
Where do you find this stuf!?
In my store
Bad ass shop! Bad ass systems! Bad ass channel! Sir Lenny you are a badass presenter and seller!
And I use BadAss Beard products… sometimes haha
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard Bad ass comment! Yes you use BadAss Beard products Lol! Great response Sir Lenny! Lol!
They are actually both correct, technics made commercials in the 70s saying it both ways. To Make sure everyone would stay confused.
These are FACTS!
Had the su-700m2 for just a month got bored of it. Nothing is perfect. Purchased the Rega elicit mk5 and the difference is very noticeable especially the punchy bass it offers, but t get’s hot unlike the Technics amplifiers.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard these last few days have been very nice, about 74⁰F
How about over there?
There is no Q in Technics.
But is there….
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard If you spell it with a Q yeah, Techniqs ha ha
I pronounce Technics like this - Panasonic.
Mic Drop!!!
No... MATSUSHITA!!!
Is this a separate channel from Just Audio?
Yes this is the Vlog channel. New Just Audio content coming back this weekend!
Vlog?
In a qorls where we hve many maxe up words, I see no needto get *Technical* about the pronounciation. Damn, $10,000 for THAT amp😮? Hope it tskes me out to dinner & has power steering & AC😂😂
I have been calling it Tech(nicks) since 1989. If it's Techniques, then ah well, I will say it wrong until the end of time. Why? Because Tech(nicks) sounds better to my ears.
It's pronounced Technicks not techniques, the clue is in the name 😉
Steve Guttenberg pronounces the company name as "Technicks" as well, and he's "The Audiophiliac."
technick is a phone review channel though ;---)
I think the company themselves are the authority on correct pronunciation so your wrong except in the UK. Not every word is pronounced as it’s spelled. It’s a Japanese company owned by Panasonic. Watch a commercial from Japan. Seems like they say it w/ 3 syllables: “Tech-U-Neeks”, though that u is quicker and less pronounced.
@@bactaniteno he(Steve Gutenberg)doesn’t. He says it correctly. Watch his video on the turntable that made him accept direct drive after total devotion to belt drive.
@@erieeddie8683it's not owned by Panasonic it's owned by Matsushita. And that is pronounced just like it is spelled. Not Mashusta
Your pronouncing it right bro
Thanks man!
It would have to be spelt Techiecs to pronounce it American. How do you pronounce Techniques=Techi-ques in American.
I feel for $10k you should be able to buy a nice artistic piece seeing as you can get excellent quality amplifiers for much less that would suit most people. There's enough aluminium rectangle out there lol
Moist
I think your videos lack content and direction, I think we all want to know more about the product, some of your videos are 15+ minutes long and you only talk about the product for 3 minutes, and even then it is an uninformative 3 minutes. You have some cool gear.
You may like the produced channel better @justaudiohifi. This one is meant to be a vlog
Thanks though! Appreciate the comment!
I just think your wrong just because i dont like the way it sounds pronouced that way lol. If they were gonna call it that why wouldnt they name the brand techniques? 😂
Haha Good Point
Exactly!!
Love the fact i got some likes and replies. Because after doing a couple things i thought about a turn table. Audio-Technica. They don’t pronounce it audio techiquea. Lol i loved how you teased the pronunciation on the video it drove me nuts haha good stuff. Drove me nuts lol
