That's all really cool and pretty exciting, but the it can not be overstated how funny it looks seeing Chargla "anxiously and nervously" approach the Truckla port
I really wanted some sort David Attenborough voiceover for that part of the video.
"The the charger approaches tentatively... "
Chargla is the closest robot I've seen in demeanor to the fire extinguisher bot from Iron Man
chargela did better than me on my first try
I knew I would not be the only one with this mind after seeing chargla in action
I love that she took a 4 year break, and STILL finished her truck before Tesla released the Cybertruck.
@@anusername8350 her unexistsnt great great children could do it and still would beat Tesla.
There's a difference between concept and mass producing for hundred thousands person
@@ariihauu_mrs But also a difference between a single garage engineer and an industry-leading corporation
Ah!!!! 😂
The cybertruck unveiling by accidentally breaking the window is comedy gold
I love how she was like, "I only did Truckla to 80%" And then did the fix ups to 80% too
honestly the team watching the charger slowly approach and make contact with Truckla felt like zookeepers watching two almost-extinct animals copulate successfully for the first time
It's impossible to mistake just how hard Simone is struggling not to make a double entendre while Chargla spent a minute or two trying to orient itself the first time at 7:50
She has come along way from saying something inappropriate and losing a sponsor lol
@@hoisinholdup The sponsors were inappropriate, what Simone said was fine.
Just saw the short wherein an Attenborough-esqe voiceover narrates the Chargela "docking" sequence. On top of Truckla's/Chargela's existence, I'd just like to thank Simone for listening to the fans and bringing this wonderful bit of TH-cam gold to reality. It's really made my day!
This sparks joy.
Chargla still needs some balancing since it still looks a litte top- and front-heavy BUT i've seen other attempts from big companies not looking that good in later stages of development. So: Two thumbs up!
Must have been a lot of pressure for Chargela to have his first time on camera... ;-) -Daven
I know........ And not a single Barry White CD around when he needed it ! :D
@@Reman1975 Absolutely would have worked much smoother is it started playing Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Baby before approaching.
I love how cute you make everything! Feels like such a wholesome engineering and mechanical and woodworking corner of TH-cam that even I, the complete opposite of all of those, enjoys watching every time 🥰🥰
She sounds more functional than many many working pickups I know of, lol.
Absolutely. Modern mass market pickups are so tall it's awkward to work out of.
Yeah, last time I used a company pickup, it required: the keys, a screwdriver, precision 'jiggling', and the knowledge that the brakes maybe worked half of the time and were super 'squishy'.
@@Tfaonc yeah, I'm 6'2 and hauling shit out of an F150 if they aren't loaded to the gills is a chore. Even I prefer shorter trucks.
And she has a much more sensible bed to cab ratio.
Lots of modern pickups have essentially turned into unnecessarily lifted minivans with a little alibi bed.
Simone crossing the street with the charging robot gives me "crazy bag lady with a time machine" energy
Like a cross between Katarina Jones & Jennifer Goines from the 12 Monkeys TV series! And I mean that as a compliment to Simone!
Would you believe that wouldn't even make the top 5 weirdest things I've seen in Manhattan?
No lie I think your videos are the reason I’m gonna give electrical work a try as a career.
I've been wondering about truckla, I'm so happy for her, she met her soul mate with chargela 🥰 I wish them both many happy years together ❤
That tailgate is seriously impressive. Well done and awesome job building a one-of-a-kind functional truck!
Impressive, but also illegal lol. Can't have tail lights on a moving portion of the rear of the car (tailgate/trunk,etc)
@@mr.bennett108 I think the turn signals and break lights are still stationary on either side of that tail gate. The only lights that are attached to the tailgate would be the reverse lights. If those have to remain stationary as well, auxiliary reverse lights could be integrated into the bumper fairly easily.
@@mr.bennett108
"Can't have tail lights on a moving portion..."
Actually you can, but they can't be the only ones. There would have to be a set on a non-moving portion.
Source: look at the back of a Kia Sportage, and many other hatchback vehicles.
Truckla is amazing.
Don't let this guy near her - he says it's just for a review but you wont get her back
High praise from JerryRig 😮 Truckla will always have a special place in my heart. You both look great!❤
Truckla is the design that Tesla should've gone with, it's so perfect. I can't believe it's been 4 years since you made it.
One of the most unique and creative channels that I've come across. Nice work!
Thank you for this Truckla update. I have been wondering about the state of Truckla and I am glad to see her again.
Well done! nice to see you were able to figure out how the door shuts when done charging. Nice follow-up.
That was a great video! All three of you watching as Chargla mounted Truckla had all the vibe of a stud breeding back on the farm. my favorite wincing moment is you shaking it by it's input port as a job well done! lol🤣😂
I like when content creators do follow up videos on their projects, well done!
Simone never ever change. You're an inspiration to my girls. Chargler humping wasn't awkward AT ALL. thanks for the update about Phisicsgirl. I hope she recovers soon. Sending love and good vibes for a speedy recovery.
And she's an inspiration to boys as well. In many important and good ways.
@@gormauslander She's not doing great health-wise. Here's Simone's update on Dianna's channel: th-cam.com/video/vydgkCCXbTA/w-d-xo.html
@@gunnarliljas8459 I can only agree, however i only have two girls and they love Simone.
Haven seen you on TH-cam for a while and it great to have you back.
I like the intro, where Simone describes every project car I've ever had.
those little hip thrusts at 7:45 should be rated NC-17, that was like watching national geographic!
The crowd of people sitting quietly by watching was great. “And here we see the charger gently approaching the truckla as not so scare her off. She opens her charge port in an accepting manner. My goodness look at the aggressiveness by the charger! I didn’t think he that much spark in him.”
Watching Chargla struggle to get it all the way in... we've all been there, man. On one side or the other of the situation.
Thanks for this update on this major project. I love when creators and artists update us on their projects, builds, and pieces of art and show us how they are doing / working out so many years later. It really informs us if it is worth all of the work, but more importantly financial cost of a project like these.
Nice update video, that ending somehow is perfect for your channel. Actually finishing projects is always hard, got some issues with that myself those last details that are at times important too (like waterproofing) are worth getting done as tedious as they might be. Would've been absolutely essential here where I live but I guess in LA it can wait.... a few years.
I must admit I was slightly disappointed in the tailgate not being automatic in its opening and closing, but it certainly looks sturdy and functional.
I'm not sure how I'd describe that scene when observing the charger trying to do its thing for the first time, be wary of rogue teslas getting near chargela though! They might want to steal some free electricity.
So happy to see Truckla getting more love and care! Also, Chargela is adorable. Needs some googly eyes.
Reminds me of Tony Stark’s dummy. Dumb? Yes, but endlessly adorable.
It's nice to see two projects come together
The ending alone is worth the like. You are cool for sure! Good job.
I have missed Truckla. I’m glad she is finally getting water proofed. She is too cool to not be fully living up to her potential.
“Simone Giertz, -A Close Friend of Truckla” 😂😂
How was I not already subscribed? Sending love from Texas.
Love it!!! That vehicle looks so sweet!
I love the "CHZ LOUISE" plate on Truckla. It's such a wonderful reference to that awesome slice of a car.
OMG! You make my days happy! I love you!
This is consistently one of my favorite channels on TH-cam
On behalf of my daughter trying to make her way in the world... thanks. She has just decided to become a bio-engineer. Not really related to what you do except for the fact that she calls you a bad-ass and is inspired to be a bad-ass too.
And this is why we’re all in debt to bad ass women like Simone. Congratulations on having such a bad ass for a daughter. You must be doing something right.
It's the Simone Giertz touch to her videos that make me smile. The leaving slowly for coolness and safety and humor is something many engineers on here would do, but it's Simone that's awesome enough to just nicely and somewhat awkwardly add "I hope you have a good day." Now I'm leaving the video smiling and having a good day. Thanks Simone.
for those who wonder, many creators use a clap because when you edit it's very easy to see the spikes and know when the takes begin and where it ends
I love open source projects. Thank you!
"under very specific circumstances" made me chuckle. Always great to see Commander Scraps inspecting things.
I've been kind wondering, thanks for the update !
I loved this video! Thanks for making the video update
The first thing I thought about when I saw that the tailgate pulls outwards is "Will that crumble under load? Like, could you sit on that?" - A few seconds later the affirmative was proven; very impressive!
yeah only concern I wonder about, which is probably just due to the short video, in how easy to close it is, like making sure it latches securely, and if things could get into those slides and gum them up
I'd like to see the charge-la scenes narrated by David Attenborough.
@@omarsdroog That could work! But then I'd want a Barry White type narrator.
The video is very informative and interesting. Just keep up your good work. Lots of love to you from India.
well done, it came out fantastic!
Glad that Truckla still exists and didn't end up sitting in a back lot rotting! So many project vehicles do. Very cool update! Thanks for the inspiration!
When I first noticed this in my feed, it showed that there were already 13,000 views after having only been up for 15 minutes. That’s a testament to how much people love you, Simone.
This video was so hilarious! You guys watching chargela work for the first time was too funny!
Loved the original project and love the follow up. Yay Truckla and hello Chargela.
I like the part where it un-charges by disengaging and just backing away, presumably until it hits a wall off screen. Nailed it. There’s something about clumsy robots that makes them feel soooooo…. Human? It gives them personality. Just goes to show that a robot doesn’t need eyes, or fingers, or really any physical human features for personification to take place. All it needs is the ability to emulate a head tilt, and we’re totally smitten. Or is that just a me thing? 😅
Just look at how people respond to Boston Dynamics outtakes. Humans have a wonderful tendency to see ourselves in things.
"Picking up the broken promises of the car world." Nailed it.
I love Truckla. It would be nice to see any auto company release such a small truck in America today. They do get made & sold for SE Asia and other areas. Dozens of hours into a prototype charger that saves 5 seconds per day. Anyone can build a prototype. Mass production is hard. I wonder who said that?
Like the broken promises of EV's in general, it will be a looooooooooooooong time before those pieces ever get sorted.
Wow. Depression much?
Glad you're back.
I saw your truck once near Beronio lumber in the Bayshore. It was exciting.
you never disappoint. you are awesome.
I like how Chargela's design is inspired by nature in the way it, uh, makes sure there is a solid connection. Also Truckla is a sweet mod.
Remember it’s a whole robot just so you don’t have to press one button on a cable
"I hope you have a good day." It's always a good day when you share a new project, Simone. Especially when we get so see Scraps - love her.
Wow I was wondering this last week. Good timing
Found you from Lex, hilarious personality and genius content and ideas.
Cooler than the cybertruck.
Everything is cooler thatn that cybertruck man😂 but that shouldn‘t lower the amazingness of chargela😌
There must be a bunch of bloopers of everyone trying to hold back giggles.
Watching Simone watch Chargela approach Truckla was like witnessing a parent watch her child take their first steps.
Truckla looks so amazing! and scraps's little coat is so adorable
Had a Maker Faire last week, and I’m fighting the urge to put the projects on the shelf at 80%, so this is inspiring.
Chargela's just trying their best. We're rooting for you Chargela!
Due to the obvious parallels I would confidently use "he" but I guess to each their own.
This is the only clean comment I've seen so far. Unfortunately in Australia rooting has different connotations so it's actually somehow dirtier.
I mean, Simone herself uses "she", so
It's an automatic charger, does it really matter :P
7:40 The moment that most people realised they had seen a contraption like this in some video clip somewhere on the web thats NSW
Honestly one of the greatest TH-cam videos I've ever seen. In so many ways.
Nicely done! This deserves at least a few rounds on the "Proud of you, Son" machine. :)
While growing up I thought there was something wrong with me for only working till proof of concept (80%). Then off to another problem to be solved. I had a circle of folks who loved finishing up some of my work. It was fun to see some of them go into mass production. Always a joy to see your passion. Take care and stay safe. Love Always.
Great lesson. The world would be a better place if we admitted what our shortcomings are, and invited other people to use their strengths to takeover when needed.
Great video!
That was comedy. Thanks for the light heartedness I needed today.
Sick glad truckla still going strong and hilariously still a good investment because they still haven't released cybertruck lol
I love you simone hope all is well in your life you inspire me to create with every project you show us
Isn’t that wild to think it’s been SO LONG and we’re now at the point where people have really forgotten about the cyber truck???
Oh, I am so happy! I thought this was going to be a sad video where it turned out it was no more! Also, yes, I'm impressed as hell that you met the creator of MongoDB.
i read the wiki on mongodb about five times and i still can't figure out what it does.
I love it, an very complicated and sophisticated solution to an simple and easy task
That tailgate is my favorite part! It's legit
This is awesome! Truckla has her own humpla!
Would have liked to see more footage of the upgrades and body work to truckla, but chargela is pretty cool too!
Thank you, yes. Awkward jokes, a prototype charger that doesn't save any time, but no discussion of what even went into the upgrades & body work. So weird.
@@Nphen if it unplugs & parks itself when charging is complete some time may be saved, also it can be seen from a distance so a glance across the garden will tell you if charging has finished.
weatherproofing it isnt "sexy" but without it you cant really drive it safely.
Watching the team watching first contact while not making eye contact was EPIC. I hope off camera one of Simone's friends puts a mannequin top on it. 😆
Been waiting on a truckla update- glad everything is still going alright!!
Watching y'all watch the robot hump the car... Gold. Great job on both Truckla and Chargela.
Coolness points gained since the day 1, when I found your profile.
Just awesome....you should somehow offer this conversation for all Model 3 consumers... Keep up the great work
I can’t believe you guys made truckla in 2018, that feels like so long ago! Glad to see she’s still holding up 🙂.
It’s already 4years??? 🤯 damn time flys! I remember seeing the video when it came out!
Man I would love to give this a shot. Been messing with a ton of robot guidance stuff lately.
Marcos! Great to see one of my favorite people back with his long lost love Truckla.
Don't worry Chargela, the first time is always awkward!
Imagine three people and a dog watching you on your first time? Talk about performance anxiety 😮
okay you win the internet for today I'm dead 🤣🤣
I call myself experienced and it seemed elegant to me
Am I the only one who heard the Turtle and the Croc audio, during that portion of the video? I think they should add a speaker...
