I just bought a mint in box "Pretty Reflections" Beauty Secrets Barbie! Thats the special version with the 3-way mirror! I found her for a really good price too, most of the MIB Beauty Secrets Barbies go for about the same amount I bought that version for ❤
I had this Barbie! She was one of the first ones I ever got! I was 4 when I got her in 1980! I was obsessed with the little purple case and accessories and with the way her arms moved! It’s so good to see her brand new again as mine is very “well loved” from playing with her!
Fun fact: when Barbie first came to Brazil in the 80s it wasn't manufactured by Mattel but by brazilian company Estrela, which had a contract with Mattel, and every doll had the Beauty Secrets face mold and body style; meaning every doll had these bendable arms and the back mechanism :)
yeah it's pretty interesting :) here's a pic that displays some of the dolls 2.bp.blogspot.com/-y02wWftceuA/VdzSXB3Pk8I/AAAAAAABIus/Qub84bBeN-w/s1600/1-DSC_0404.JPG
I just purchased her from a second hand shop, complete except for a missing shoe. She still had that 'new' doll smell. I had to redo her hair but apart from that, she is in unplayed with condition. I love her, she is sooo pretty.
I got this barbie for Christmas, I believe it was 1980? I loved her long hair, and if I remember correctly, i think she was the first barbie made with extra long hair. After that, alot of barbies came out with really long hair. But she was the first.
I still have my childhood BEAUTY SECRETS barbie. But I did trim the ends of her hair, so instead of having hair past her butt, it reaches below her waist.
One thing I didn't like about this barbie was you couldn't put her bangs back in a headband because she had a really long forehead! And it just looked wierd. LOL.
Omg! I remember her! One of my friends had this barbie and when I saw her for the first time at his home I was surprised to see a barbie with bangs because all other barbies didn't have a bang (bangs for barbies started back at the end of the 80's and during all the 90's) and then I was surprised to too see she had articulated wrists.
Love this doll, I have five or six of them (and four Beauty Secrets Christie dolls as well). You should know that this doll is from the 1980 product catalog. The box is marked 1979 because all of the copyright, production art and manufacturing for this doll happened in the year prior to the doll coming to market. This doll was HUGELY popular in the early 80s, I know that I saw her for sale at least as late as 1982, and I had three of them as a child (though none of those 'survived' to make it into my current collection).
FINALLY succumbed and got a special edition of this gal (now I collect Superstar era!) - She was a gift from Mattel to convention goers at the first ever Barbie collector convention in New York back in 1980 and wears a sash in the box that says '21 Years Of Barbie' ... She is NRFB but I am SO tempted to debox her!!!
Lovely doll and video! This is the third of your videos I watch and I love it! Been collecting Barbie for almost 5 years now and Beauty Secrets Christie is on my wish list! Keep up the good work! ❤️
Thanks for reviewing her!! She's so adorable and she's definitely on my list of vintage Barbies to get. I don't remember her at all growing upon that makes her even more fun. :) great tip with the sticky tape for the shoes!
I got so excited, that went to search her on eBay! just bought one, loose, but the doll is in pretty good condition, as well as the hair. can't wait her to arrive!
Helena Khudyna Awesome. Congratulations. Shes an amazing doll. I've never "played" with her features. Mainly just posed her for photos and stuff. :) Cant wait to see yours.
I got this doll for my 10th birthday! She was the 'special' version with the three-way full length mirror! (I wish I still had that AND her! Even though I only really collect Vintage and Mod era now.) Are you Australian, BTW? You sound it... if so, greetings from a fellow Aussie Barbie collector! I've seen your pics on Flickr and love them! :)
Isn't she amazing! I have seen the 3 way mirror version on ebay. But I was happy for this version. I especially love her layered fringe. Yeah, I'm Aussie. In Sydney. Yourself? And thanks for checking out my Flickr! :D
Awesome! Just started following you. I love all the 70's pre-pink stuff, as well as the early 80's stuff. I have a few Barbie and the Rockers that I'm trying to complete. I have a MIB Derek that I opened and his "leather" pants are peeling. So devo!!! Where in Sydney are you?
I was OBSESSED with Devo back in 1981/2! ... I once was sent the whole NRFB first issue of the Rockers by mistake, but was honest and notified the seller, (though kept them for a little while as they bought so many memories back for an 80's kid! LOL) I'm upper North Shore, (Wahroonga)... you?
This was my favourite Barbie when I was a kids d
I think this is the most BEAUTIFUL Barbie Mattel ever made!
I think so too!

Hello..may i ask how did you wash her hair coz i have her too and she has greasy hair also..
Shiela Marie So Sure! I used the same method I used on my EAH dolls. th-cam.com/video/P6XGMe6htug/w-d-xo.html
I had the outfit to this doll as a kid. It was obviously a hand-me-down :P But I had it nevertheless. I think she is so glamorous.
How did you clean the hair? I remember seeing this one as kid in the stores sitting down
