I remember in the early 90s, in my 68 V8 Valiant, chasing an old Holden wagon down to Apollo Bay. I hung onto her as best I could. Out gets an old lady...local knowledge!! I love that road and Apollo Bay. Took my daughter there afew years ago... weather was shite but we didn't care. Just a dad and his daughter enjoying a special part of Vic.
Great video of a truly impressive drive. Brought back some great memories of driving down there myself several years ago and staying in Apollo Bay. I'd forgotten about the "keep left" signs!!!
Went to the Twelve Apostles for a day trip from Melbourne on holidays. This road is amazing!🤩😄 Skipped Torquay though, only remember the part from Anglesea.
I’ve done this amazing drive a few times and the video just can’t convey how massive those cliffs are as you’re driving around them. Another great video, looks like perfect driving weather :)
Spectacular drive. Thanks for the upload. Going there on my red ps this jan 2024. hopefully I will succeed. feeling very scared and excited at the same time.
Lovely area, had the good fortune to do the drive, well worth it. If you ever end up in FNQ, the drive from Cairns to Pt Douglas is similar but not as long. Enjoy your video's as always.
Very good video. You chose a nice day, the music was spectacular, and the camera was correctly installed in the car. But nowadays "timelapse" videos are no longer used. Since TH-cam allows uploading videos without time limits, people upload videos with the original duration, without any acceleration, therefore I hope you upload the four or five hours of the original video so I can enjoy it to the fullest. Thank you very much.
Thanks for supporting the Aussie sporting scene hahaha, didn't know you followed AFL! Funnily enough I've started watching NFL recently after being more of a rugby fan all my life.
I suspect this would be even more beautiful in person than in camera, id also probably be worried about some guy bumping into me because he's too busy admiring the view :)
Thanks for the video, grown up taking trips to Lorne and god the cockatoos have gotten more intense. Almost every outdoor restaurant has started putting up signs to stop feeding them because of Melbournians chucking food at them, and even at the part where you drove through Lorne you can see them all about
3 weeks late, but eh, whatever, it happens to the best of us, anywho, seems like a very scenic drive, reminds me of Weber Canyon Hwy or Sundance Drive up Mt Tipenogas in Utah’s Park City and Weber Canyons, very similar to a Road in Switzerland as well, known by the Virtual trucking world as the Alpine Road, the A12 if I’m not mistaken, but I’m probably wrong, but man, Australia has so many cool drives, ride suggestion btw, for Brissy, could you do the M15/SR15? If not that’s fine, just a suggestion, that or the M1 from around Deception Bay to around Logan Central, Via the M1 and Hirschel Memorial Bridges? Either work
Love it! I was wondering, as you have already done a drive from Sydney to Melbourne, whether you could also do one from Adelaide to Melbourne, or vice-versa? I have a cousin and her daughter living in Adelaide and will visit her not too long from now. :)
@@GreatAussieDrives I see. No worries. Thanks for your quick reaction. I have already done a bit of research and the route looks really nice. Taking you through the Western Victorian Volcanic Plains, the South Australian mallee flats, across the Murray River region with its beautiful big Red Gum trees and over the Mount Lofty Ranges and there you are. An 8 hour drive. More than 700km. That is about the same distance from Brussels to Munich. Just with more nature. Haha.
great job! love seeing you drive great scenic routes, especially ones i have been on. Will you be covering from apollo bay to warrnambool? (the other section of the great ocean road)
Thanks mate! I didn't get a chance to film beyond Apollo Bay this time unfortunately (though I have driven all the way to Warrnambool before), but I definitely do want to return and record that section too when I can!
I believe the Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel, Toowoomba Bypass in Queensland and EastLink in Melbourne are the only toll roads in Australia where Transurban has no involvement.
i have now watched a lot of your trips, which I too have done, so very special memory... The GOR - Great Ocean Road was fantastic... I nearly got car sick!!... I love that trip and do it regularly,,, but of course not at the speed!!! eheheh love your work.. I would love to know the elevation of the places you go through too...
Keep on moving! Don't stop! Your videos are amazzzzzing! Always happy to see them!
I love this drive. Reminds me of the coastal roads back home on New Zealand's South Island!
Thank you for taking us on this lovely adventure.
Wow! At first it looks like any other ordinary road but the bits next to the ocean are a true beauty!
Great songs !!! Great words ! I stayed for the songs and words.
Spectacular driving road and scenery. Thanks for all the rides you've taken us on in 2023. Have a great Christmas and New Year.
Thanks mate, I appreciate it!
This road sure makes the B78 in NSW look like childs play😂😂

Fantastic video. Would you be able to do a video of the trip from Eden to Melbourne via the Princes Highway
Thanks mate, yes I definitely do want to cover that route some time!

Thanks mate!
Maate! You didn't mention the Pole House at 20:07. :) The first thing my family would look for on a drive to the 12 Apostles.
Spectacular drive. Thanks for the upload. Going there on my red ps this jan 2024. hopefully I will succeed. feeling very scared and excited at the same time.
Best of luck, you can do it! 👍

Australia 🇦🇺
Very very beautiful!

1:41 I love watching the Geelong Cats, my favourite AFL team! Some of my favourite players over the years like Gary Abblet and Cameron Ling!
Thanks for supporting the Aussie sporting scene hahaha, didn't know you followed AFL! Funnily enough I've started watching NFL recently after being more of a rugby fan all my life.
The hamlet of Moggs Creek 20:35 is where Patrick Dangerfield is from
I suspect this would be even more beautiful in person than in camera, id also probably be worried about some guy bumping into me because he's too busy admiring the view :)
Finally!! Very nice

Best road in Australia
The Pole House 20:08

would love to see Mt Gambier one day 😁

Thanks for the comment. Probably not in the near future, though that is a route I want to cover some day!

Great job mate! Have you been there recently?
Thanks mate! This was filmed when I last visited Victoria in December 2022 so roughly a year ago.
@@GreatAussieDrives You certainly got lucky with the weather and traffic on this day. It can be a clogged carpark at times during summer

Great video,, but i think that there is a section of the great ocean road that is 100 speed limit. as if there are no speed signs it is 100
Waiting to see the twelve apostles and great otway np
This is Australia!
This road is actually dangerous with tales of people driving off the cliff because they were too busy staring at the scenary.
Do you have any plans on going to WA
Not right now, but I definitely do want to cover WA some day.
I drove the Great Ocean Road just last month, although I came the other way. Did you end up driving the rest of the road up to Warrnambool?
Thanks mate, unfortunately not this time but I definitely do want to return and record the 2nd half sometime soon.
Great drive! Is there any toll road operator in Australia besides Transurban?
I believe the Sydney Harbour Bridge & Tunnel, Toowoomba Bypass in Queensland and EastLink in Melbourne are the only toll roads in Australia where Transurban has no involvement.

No Great Apostles. Unimigagiable on a drive along the Great Ocean Road.
Morning coffee and beautiful ride... not a bad way to start working day. 😊
Thanks for sharing!
