I realize this video is long and chatty, but I had a lot to say on the topic and hope something from it helps your creativity! Timestamps in description :) How do you overcome creative block?
Return to what brought you to the dance. When I feel myself drifting from my craft...I just remember what got me interested in the first place, and I return to that. Works like a charm for me every time.
One of the best people I've ever seen ! Your beautiful soul is literally reflecting on your baby face and your cute smiling eyes! Much of Luv from Saudi Arabia.
Im not a typical "creative" person (im a programmer) but so many of these tips are useful, I tbh I sometimes work on some book bindings to make myself feel better if im having a bad day, it really does help, thanks for the great tips !
Scott - there's a lot of creativity in the way programmers solve problems with their code - you may not be typical, but you can definitely be creative :)
Thank you , thanks you it truly describes how I lose my creative self I have all these creative ideas and themes every month . But get side tracked with following other people ideas. Thank your tips really help me.
I love all your tip! It'll help me a lot because I'm living a Creative block this moment. I feel a bit lazy and without any motivation, so I'm sure all your ideas will lift up my mood and my motivation. Thanks a lot!
Really kind of you to think of us out here who feel stressed because our idea tree begins to shrivel inside of us in time-poor lives. 🌺 What I really liked was how you organised the ways in which we can de-stress and recharge. 👌🏼 Alexander Pope described true wit as ‘what oft was thought but ne’er so well express’d’ and that’s what your chat felt to me. 😊 Thanks so much. 💕 I feel creative when I spend some time alone, quiet and relaxed so that I can feel calm and fresh. Listening to intelligent conversations without personally contributing also helps in absorbing ideas which are not really noted when we are an active participant rather than a focused observer.
No danger of me unsubscribing from Sealemon. Your channel is what got me interested in book binding, which turns out to be pretty much my favorite thing. Also on a completely different note, your hair looks great!
I have been in a creative block for almost 1 year, I almost quit drawing. ut your video has helped me find ways to keep me inspired and keep drawing, thank you.
These tips are right on! As a lifetime writer, creator, etc., I have used all of these to battle the BLOCK! But more importantly, you putting all out there explained ME to my husband!! Thanks!
i hadn't watched any of your vidoes in a long time and i just needed to hear your inspiration so thank you, im gonna watch some more theres just a glow about you dear, ... your smile comes from within
Great overview of techniques for thawing creative freeze! I love music for inspiration. My husband is a classical guitarist, so I often work in my studio while he rehearses or composes in his. Lucky me!
I usually listen to podcasts or watch a movie/show that I have seen before that way I don't feel like I have to actively watch. Futurama is my usual go too since I have seen most of the episodes multiple times.
This video is so helpful. Personally whatever I do, I always need something playing in the back. Anything, like a slow hum of the fridge, the tv, music, dogs barking. Anything! Cause without it I would be like so confused as to what I was even doing in the first place :))
THIS IS AMAZING! I had some of this ideas running already, I'm a performer, but also I do digital, creative and administrative work for some small businesses (basically I am my own boss) so I'm always doing something, and your clip puts in order everything you need to be productive (and healthy) when you do creative freelance work 💙💚
I enjoy podcasts. I turn on youtube vids I've seen already from the same person, less distraction but I still pick up details I missed when I watched the vids the 1st time! I too do book binding, also origami and nature crafts. I made a new sketch book with a journal section out of an old poster I colored. Super enjoyable for my PTSD therapy :)
12CielPhantomhive14 I totally get we’re you’re coming from with PTSD therapy. Or as I call it Anxiety therapy. It helps me keep focused on one thing. I have been diagnosed with severe depression, PTSD, OCD and a bunch of other stuff. If I don’t use some creative things I end up getting an anxiety attack really bad. I wish you luck in your PTSD therapy.
I overcome my creative block by giving myself some times to settle down and think things through if things gone pretty messy over the time I closed my project book and went outside or just stare at the window just to see a different view other than those clutters of projects. I drink plain or aromatic water such as berry tea to keep my mind calm and easy. Or I just take a bath ,the water really helped me to relax and just enjoy the day then the idea will come flowing down like the water from the shower 😊
I knit a lot and sometimes I need to take a break from it 😂I agree with finding the time of the day that works best for your creative activities. 💕When I feel down I try to push myself to get up and do HITT 💪🏻and come back to my work.😊
Hi Jennifer!! I really like this videos because I had a chance to sit back and realize my habits during my creating times. I like the part where you put emphasis on different sites where beginners like me always visit to get inspired. I really learned a lot. Thank you and God bless you.
So many helpful tips! I will definitely take some of these to heart, especially trying out the brain dump tip. I have so much stuff going on in my head, it does help a lot when I get all those ideas out.
I just discovered your channel and I'm hooked. You have some fantastic ideas and great projects I can't wait to try. Thanks so much for putting your creativity out there.
I'm a biologist, so not what a lot of people would consider a creative and artistic person, but I'm always drawing in my free time and I consider myself an artist, which is the most important part. As an extrovert, one of the best way I get creativity is by simply talking to people. I play a lot of board games with my friends and we also roleplay in a game setting (Dungeons and dragons, pathfinder). This saves my creative ass x) My game nights with my friends really help me out :)
These are really helpful, and I love that you have the list and timestamps in the description! I also used your code to start my own website, so I hope it benefits you
Agree 100%, Jennifer! White walls don't help. Wendy and I, we noticed that we do need to see weird color combinations to come up with something unique for our projects. Great video!
All of my crafts I do at night time because that is when I am comfortable with my surroundings. Less noise, less distractions. I also listen to like piano covers or the instrumental of my favorite songs when I work, so I don't get distracted with the singing and such but I still feel a "pick me up" because it's still my favorite songs 😂😂
Hello dear, thank you so much for this video, I'm sure it will help a lot! I have a notebook with me all the time so I never miss an idea 😇 Kisses from Brazil 💚💛💙
I really love this list, it’s not like every other list, it’s new! I love the idea of doing something repetitious, or an opposite environment. Brilliant! Thank you! Also, your shower looks space age. :)
7:00 painfully learned tip: if you're going to let your mind run on autopilot while you sew, and *this is especially for sewing machines and beginners with small working space* , please, please, please, for the love of god, check if the fabric you're sewing is resting on the machine, and not, say, another piece of fabric. Un-sewing dozens of centimeters of micmac *will* make you want to curl up and cry Too many times has the hem of a dress found itself sewed to a sleeve, treat the poor soft fabric with care and love
I have movies going in the background sometimes and that fills the air...I have it somewhat low in volume and I just have it for something to set my mind free of silence....Most times I don't get hooked on the movie but if I do I take a break and enjoy the rest of it... ha ha ha ha ha
I work best at night, but seeing as I'm a student. And have strict living policies, like my neighbors liking quietness, and my family sleeping. I sometimes can't stay up very long. My friend on the other hand loves the peacefulness after 12AM. Some days I like to stay up late to just do my thing. The next morning my mom will wonder why I'm still asleep and question me with that look hahahaha.
Supa early! Well, taking a shower helps. I know that sounds funny, but maybe it's just how the body calms itself. Any time you're comtemplative, it helps creatively. Writing in a journal helps instead of staring at a computer. Yeah music is good esp if it's instrumental and not lyrical like you mentioned. (:
Lo fi Hip Hop is beautiful and I love your videos and it's really inspiring to watch and your channel reminds me of art attack. However is there any videos you have that I can get started to do what you do, any beginners video
Is it instrumental music that you like the best? I sometimes like to listen to music that has word pictures in the lyrics -- like my favorite is Patti Page - she sang a lot of songs that create word pictures in my mind - like "How Much is That Doggie in the Window" or "Mockingbird Hill," etc. I'm a night owl too and early birds don't understand why I like to stay up until the wee hours of the morning, however, I do get in my sleep hours now that the kid is grown and can do for himself. Go for the gold!
I realize this video is long and chatty, but I had a lot to say on the topic and hope something from it helps your creativity! Timestamps in description :) How do you overcome creative block?

I'm the most creative around 2am... but I'm too tired to do anything about it haha

19 minutes of Sea Lemon = *worth it*
