  • A firefighter was taken to the hospital after they were injured battling a Calaveras County wildfire that prompted evacuations and destroyed structures, officials said Tuesday. Cal Fire told KCRA 3 that the firefighter's injuries do not appear to be life-threatening as of Tuesday morning. Details were not released on when the firefighter was injured and what agency they are from. The Aero Fire, which started around 1:40 p.m. on June 17 near Aero and Hunt roads in the Copperopolis area, sent out a large plume of smoke into the sky and grew at what Cal Fire described to be a "dangerous rate of spread" amid windy conditions.

If California has not yet sent a satellite up in space specifically to detect wild fires, they should.
