  • $10,000 Estate Sale Find Or BIG Mistake?
    Today I went to an estate sale that advertised some very valuable items. There was everything from high end designer clothing to Incredible valuable collectable pens. And, I ended up buying one item that was potentially worth over 10k. I hope you all enjoy this haul!

    Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I have to be honest, I've never even heard of that watch brand. You could have sold it quietly in any number of ways but you chose to pass on some knowledge to help other resellers not make the same mistake. You will always be one of my favorites for that reason and many more. You should be proud of what you do! Thank you!!!!

    I spent over 5k on 650 units of a wholesale item thinking it would sell hundreds of units per month. Then I realized that Amazon listings with multiple variations can be tricky to analyze. Turns out I bought the slowest selling variation. Took 3 years to sell the inventory. You live you learn.

      I’ve been pretty fortunate, but did buy several fakes from one person. Michael Kors watch & Chanel travel cup. I was going to buy two more watches from her and decided to do a bit more research, since I’m still still a newbie. Within 20 minutes of reading about authentic MK watches I realized I had a fake. I messaged her thinking maybe she’d been duped as well and didn’t want her to unknowingly sell fakes. She “didn’t know” yet didn’t remove any other fake MK listings. eBay removed my Chanel travel cup as they believed it to be a fake. It’s all part of the learning process 😊 I’m terrified of unknowingly listing a fake.

    I bought some Jordan’s and Yeezys from a yard sale and when I got home I realized they were all fake when one of the shoes said something like“the gretest plxer of all time” 😂😂 I only spent 50 at the yard sale and made up for the shoes with other items luckily lol

    There have been a few buys that didn't work for me. My most expensive was a vintage LV bag. I didn't want to sell it myself so I sent it to TRR and they couldn't authenticate and sent it back. I took It to an authenticator and they couldn't either. They said they thought it was real but couldn't guarantee that it was....so I was out $250. That is the most expensive "oops" I have had. Thank you for being honest. Transparency is key. I love your vildeos.

    Love the videos! I had almost the exact same experience this past week. I went through the watch bin at my local Salvation Army and found a few fitbits and a Rolex!
    I looked up our local Rolex dealer as I also don’t have much watch expertise. I walk in and they are calling for the main person that authenticates and when he finally comes down he from a distance says I can tell that’s a fake from here lol.
    He also never touched it and then the best part was he says some of the fake Rolex’s are really good these days but the one you have isn’t even a good fake 😂
    After I didn’t my own researchI then realized I should have known and it was a good lesson and I can relate to your disappointment 100%

    I bought a jet ski for $1200, and it's been in the shop for all three years I've owned it. Plus, I found out the shop I currently have it at has went out of business. Plus plus, I spent like $3800 putting a new motor in. Worst financial decision of my life.

    Early on, bought some boxed speakers from a thrift store that taught me all about the classic "White Van Speaker Scam" con. Red flags: box said something like "premium speaker system," printed on the box was something like: "MSRP: $1850," brand name sounded familiar, but slightly off, box was "perfectly damaged," as in a corner was ripped off and styrofoam packaging was flaking.
    Worth reading about. They were working speakers, but the cheapest you can find. Sold on FB for what I got them, about $60.

    They usually heavily discount prices at estate sales the following days after. I never really go to high end popular estate sales on the first day not worth the trouble. Imagine waiting outside since 3am for those pens only to find out they are priced evenly with eBay prices after finally making it inside.

    Bought a Dooney and Burke Purse as a beginner reseller for $10.00 only to get home and the patch on the front peeled right off! I was so ticked at myself at the time. I too should have done a little research right there at the yardsale. Now, like you, I basically steer clear of the designer anything unless I am sure.
    I would have been drooling over those pens.
    Have a blessed day!

    Picked up a 'Coach' purse not knowing a lot about how to identify real from fake, and of course it was a fake. I found this one at the bins. I had found a real one at the bins before and I thought, hey why not take a chance. Fake! But I did not have too much money invested in it. Now, I just stay away from those purses until I know more on how to spot a fake! Great video! Thanks.

    Howdy Ben, great story & thanks for taking us along on your adventure. My lesson, a few years ago I spent $150 on 3 autographed NFL football cards of a future All-Pro running back. They were legit, authenticated autographs, but the actual player got hurt & didn’t live up to his potential in the NFL. Who wants to buy cards of an average running back who only played professional football for 5 years? No one, my mistake, live on to fight another day.

    I spent $150 on a lot of Hockey jerseys last year, only to find out later after listing one on eBay that they were all Chinese knock-offs. Convincing ones, but not enough to slip by one buyer on eBay who reported the listing. We all learn tough lessons!

      A hockey Jersey got me too. Buyer returned it but was kind enough to point out all the things that signaled it was a knockoff(stuff I would never have caught). I usually stay away from clothes for this reason, all the desirable stuff is faked, and they're pretty good fakes at that.

    So i prepped for hours before going and then the person in front of me got the main things I was after and i had to pivot to stuff that wasnt in the photos beforehand. I ended up making some great buys, left stuff behind and made a couple of bad buys. It happens.

    I bought a "Fendi" dress as one of my first reseller purchases. It was $60 online, so when I got it in hand, it just didn't feel luxurious. I ended up reselling it with a big caveat that it was fake, but hoped that maybe someone with brand love without the deep pockets would buy it. It sold pretty quickly, and I was happy to get it off of my hands, and basically lost about $20 after fees and all that.

    Recently saw an adidas Messi jersey nwt from 2019 at a local Goodwill. Got excited and paid the $12.99, it looked to be $100+ sale. Found out it was a fake. A pretty good one, but I educated myself on what to look for. Spotted another adidas jersey out in the wild a few days later and determined it was a fake from what I learned. So at least I won't repeat the mistake going forward. And.... the Messi jersey is my size so I'll keep it and wear it as a reminder of my error!

    Do expensive pen with initials affect value? My dad received a Mont Blanc pen from work with his initials on it. Since he already had a Mont Blanc from 20 years ago, he asked me to sell it for him. It's got a case with his name on in too.

    • @lynnedelacy2841
      @lynnedelacy2841 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes anything engraved - pens or anything else prices are lower unless it belonged to a famous person when the value would be inflated because of the celebrity aspect
      You stand a little luck if it is initials only rather than a full name

      I bought some nice looking frames on EBay and thought I’d save some money, the frames looked nice but not named brands and found ironically it was only a minor saving on getting new frames and lenses as the lenses are a big part of the cost. The ones I bought still have original lenses but were sold as frames
      But you said yours are luxury so buyers would be prepared to pay

      If the watch was tagged / priced like the stuff at the table it would have raised some flags. But it was in a pile of random other watches / jewelry. And not priced out. I thought maybe they overlooked it and didn’t recognize the name. That’s why I asked the worker for a price.

    If it seems too good to be true it probably is. Whoever sponsored the sale was knowledgeable enough to know it the Vacheron was real and would not have priced it at $50 if it was real.

    • @ReadySetResell
      @ReadySetResell  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The watch wasn’t priced. That’s why I asked how much it was. The worker behind the table just gave me a price off the top of his head. If it were marked at $50 like the stuff on that table that had clearly been researched then yeah it would have raised a red flag. But it was in a pile of random stuff that wasn’t priced out so I thought it might have been overlooked or they didn’t recognize the brand.
