I listened to all the guitar Gods growing up. SRV happened and he became my numero uno. Sure there are matters of taste. Some people think Segovia is numero uno, others love Montoya. But rock/blues fans, 99% agree on SRV.

Dude, when he played, you could hear him play when driving into the parking lot as loud as if you were in the club! And when you walked in, he wasn’t any louder! He was the best! I miss him daily.
The fact that just 3 guys can make that kind of music much like Cream did is amazing in and of itself, they did ad a keyboard guy later on not sure about when that happened. Keep em coming King.
Well, 4 guys after the first two albums. Chris Layton, Tommy Shannon, Reece Wynans, and SRV. But the 3 made a mighty big walk of sound, as well!
@@Donnagilbert6497 Yes they did I lived in Dallas Tx and got to see SRV and DT in the mid 80s I think it was (that time in my life was kind of foggy) I think that concert was one of the reasons I can't hear too good now...... but well worth it.
Reece Wynans , the keyboardist, joined Double Trouble in August of 1985. He is killer on those keys and added so much. A great Band of Brothers💙

He wrote that song based on his survival from drug and alcohol abuse. He was the sweetest man I ever met. He only wanted to tell everyone of what drugs and alcohol will due. Listen to Life Without You. Everyone likes September 1985 the best.

Stevie is great to watch live but he also put out some fun music videos. His older Brother Jimmie Vaughan taught him to play. Jimmie was in a band called Fabulous Thunderbirds. They had some music videos for Hits like TUFF ENOUGH and WRAP IT UP.

You heard it -- emotion. He is a pocket player who played bars for years, accumulating 1000's of hours of experience. SRV plays by feel, so the emotion just comes out. You don't get more real than this. It's not on youtube, but if you can get it, check out the live version of "Stone Free" (J. Hendrix) from The Hendrix Concerts record. It's as good as this.

@@onepocketnovice Sorry for the confusion, but SRV never covered it, that I know of. I am referring to the Hendrix performance of his original composition. In my opinion, it sounds as emotive as SRV at his best. There are so few recordings in this echelon, I feel the comparison is fair and notable.

He modeled after Albert King, his mentor & Godfather. Watch them play & reminisce about their meeting & SRV's development to this point; having released his first major album & about to bl0w-up on the scene. Mr. King can't help but beam with pride on his protege's accomplishment & impending meteoric rise to international fame.
