I am questioning in here if he thinks he is attracted to a "dude" or "IF" he sees him as close to a delicate flower in matter of sexual attraction. He does look like a small woman to the eye indeed. On the other hand... can he be more than a male man but a fluid man which he is confuse on the dude feminine forms and behavior at times... especially when "she" look at him with that transfixed eyes. Then again... that was on his part the most of his lost in translation of attraction to the person by way of curiosity or confusion... for his heart feels attraction and confusion at the same time. What is your take on all this?. South Korean are so uptight in matters of sexuality... not like Japanese or Filipinos.
@@luisbeltran9604 I think you’re right in the fact that Ji woon sees the more delicate side of Hwi and the more “feminine” features she has. I also think he’s kinda projecting the features of the “chamber maid” he met in the forest onto her, seeing her as a woman. But then again, he truly believes that she is a man and he has never really questioned if the she could be the woman he met in the forest. So I really think he could be seen as bi. As for the portrayal of gay relationships in Korean media, I definitely think that we’ve seen more from South Korea, especially in the past year. So I’m thinking the writers are purposefully putting Ji woon’s sexuality up for debate.

Jiwoon's character is so pure and refreshing as a male lead. The fact that he was the first to see Hwi as a human regardless of gender and status, and developing feelings so quickly is DEEP. it's so simple but the social commentary is immense. like in most saeguk and kdramas in general the power dynamics are super unbalanced. often times the more powerful, higher status male lead goes after the damsel in distress and swoops her up from her unfortunate life. While Hwi is certainly ill-fated, she does her darn best to take fate into her own hands but also leans on Jiwoon when she has to, and the power exchange is a lot more equal, if not for Hwi being more dominant. And for the majority of this drama's run, Hwi looks completely androgynous or is dressed in male garb and Jiwoon's attraction towards her is *not* because she's a desirable and feminine woman (not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just super common and only reinforces traditional gender roles), but because the two can relate with each other on a purely human level. I love how this drama tries to subvert the gendered constraints of a historical setting, and that's why Hwi was such a powerful and meaningful character for me. Ugh. As you can tell I love this drama to pieces and I miss these two so much. No one else compares to Hwi-Un and I've been kdrama-ing for much too long. fell out of the loop until I randomly decided to watch this series and ever since finishing it, I can't get over it.
That is the interpretation you give him, but it is not so Ep1 and Ep2 created the bonds of love since childhood being his first and last love, the affection and attraction is still the same, only he could not identify why he liked her so much. The male hormones connected with the woman he could not identify.

The question that I am posing in here is.... if he thinks he is kissing a dude or is he thinking that he is attracted to he/she via confusion, curiosity and attraction of the heart? After all he's been shaking his head several times in the episode by way of "am I attracted to a dude.. for real?" matters of the heart or just confusion, She is a fine looking boy/girl.
They have a great work connection, the way they stare with their expressive eyes, their bantering is cute and the details they put into the work they do. A great partner really brings out the best in you and they know their work style.

I love historical dramas where women dress up as a man and the male lead falls in love with what he believes to be a man. It's a very common story in dramas. I love to see the conflict that the ML has inside itself, the fear of his to love a man. Usually it is the poor and naive girl who disguises herself as a man and her King falls in love with her. Here, however, she is a princess who disguises herself as a king, making everything more intriguing.
However, this kiss on the cheek is much more tender and sensual than many kisses on the lips seen in the dramas where it feels like looking at frozen fish.😂

The thing is with MLs falling for FLs who disguises as male, is the MLs fall for the feminine side of those “men”. Because FLs even dressing as a man is still a woman and still somehow acts a woman and I think the MLs just falls for them taking those into account. The FLs disguised as male acts shy and feminine whenever the MLs acts around them. Just a random thought here its not being homophobic its just stating reasons why the MLs falls these supposedly males when they are actually female 🙂
