I thought it seemed really good at first but the rapid firing is just too much for me. AC Black Flag was nice and slow. Something a little bit faster but still believable would be fantastic, but the gatling gun just doesn't do it for me.
I love the looks of the combat, it’s black flag, but bigger boom. The cutscenes look straight out of black flag too. My only problem though, the amount of clutter and people talking. Something that really kept me playing was the feel of the fights, hitting getting hit, shaky at times it needed to be, and hearing the vital “THEY HAVE A WEAKPOINT SIR!!!”. But hearing explosions paired with muffled voices “broa-DIE PIRATE DIE” and 10 other voices. If there would be a setting to make the crew mates slow down, or make the enemy ships shut up, I can see me playing and enjoying this game. May possibly be the successor of assassin’s creed 4 black flag. Can’t wait.

Do you think that a lack of melee/individual fight will drag this game down? The fun of Sea of Thieves or Black Flag is also the swashbuckling part of being a pirate... here it looks like a naval combat game... What do you think?
Does this game include coop? Or just PvP in terms of multiplayer? Would I be able to play with my friends, doing the same quests/activities and sharing the spoils?
I really have to look it on stream how the gameplay works. It looks cool, the explosion of the ships is a big downer for me - Why didnt they go with the traditional sinking? Why does everything have to blow up? T_T But overall, what I saw here looks interesting. It's definitely not something that wants to compete with Sea of Thieves but wants to be its own Genre of Piracy. Definitely looks interesting!
That was the worst ship battle I've ever seen, machine gun cannons, boats getting destroyed in seconds, the ridiculous ship visuals, even the knock off british ships look terrible....
SOT without PvP is exactly what I wanted in SOT in the first place. PvP is the reason I stopped playing. I thought it would be more merriment on the seas, sword-fighting skeletons, and treasure maps. It ended up being more trying to figure out how to avoid server-hopping PvP'ers that actively try to ruin anyone's day. Hopefully Skull & Bones can give me more what I was looking for.
you start out on a max upgraded huge ship with big weapons and then get shipwrecked to start over, so basically it’s either only for that mission or a super end game weapon
I wanna give skull and bones a chance but why does the shipwreck around 5:22 look cooler than most of the player ships I saw and why does it have ballistic missiles
this def feels like it's going for a different, more cinematic feel for this one compared to SoT. Glad to see that the overlap afai can see is that they're pirate games. Absolute Pixel cameo YOOOOOO
Looks like a fun game but not my cup of tea. The ships move, turn and sink too fast to be realistic and the rapid fire cannons that shoot at any angle and cause big fiery explosions all the time was unappealing. Would love to see a game with a focus on true to life physics and such. I realize that such a game would probably boring to a great many but for those like myself it would be a fun experience.
Eeesh... This definitely has Ubisoft's signature on it. Ubisoft has a knack for making games I don't like for genres I do like. I love stealth games, but hate Assassin's Creed for instance.
I think people are already overreacting about this footage, especially the part with the rapid fire rockets (which are historically correct). That specific part of the video is actually the opening tutorial of the game. It introduces you to the mechanics, let's you sail a larger ship, shoot higher tier weapons, and ultimately pushes the narrative of your character.
Machine-gun canon? In the beta? Now Im concerned bout the weaponry, with a ship equipped by auto canons and mortars like that. Wonder how they will balance that😕
I'll probably still play this because I'm a sucker for pirate themes. I'll just have to suspend a TON of disbelief and try to appreciate this game for what it is. I doubt it'll dethrone SoT, but maybe it'll have plenty of it's own fun to be had.
Man I do NOT like the Battlefield 2042 style of ship combat. It's way too fast. What is this mess? Lets put the experimental cannon aside and just look at the base combat. Its too fast and these one shot one explosion kills are dumb. AC Blackflag is MILES better than this. WHY do they do this? You want to sell cosmetics and make your ship look a spelljammer ship from D&D. FINE no problem, DONT reinvent the wheel and make it worse >.
watching these ships turn 90 degrees instantly like its a car is a massive immersion break, in SoT it takes skill to manoeuvre your ship to maintain an optimal angle. in this its just press A or D and you turn instantly
I like to compare Sea of Thieves to Elite Dangerous, they have a surprising amount of similarities. I'd honestly love for Frontier to make a pirate game like the way they made Elite Dangerous, I feel like that would be such a good experience
If this is their idea of a pirate game, then they are going out of business. What a piece of crap. It's a grind fest and zero fun. ZERO. I feel like a farmer and a SLAVE. Thanks for reminding me that SLAVERY exists in the world and I am one. Yes, I have closed Beta
With the first part of the video, I was about to say "Damm, I hoped for it to be way better" but after seeing the rest of it, seems like a nice game to play when I'm not playing SoT. I wouldn't compare it to SoT, because this one is more frenetic and less inmersive of course, but it offers more things to do. In the end, seems like S&B is an open world game and SoT is a sandbox. Let's see what the requirements are for PC, because I'm sure they will be more than SoT requirements.
So it's basically Michael Bay AC Black Flag but they only adapted the ship battle and trashed the rest that made the past game good. It's like World of Warships but with Pirate Ships instead and a fucking rapid fire cannons. Broadsides isn't like that during the golden age of piracy wtf. They have the Black Flag as a blue print. How did they fucking miss this sht. It's Soo bad and unimmersive.
I don't think this game is going to be for SoT players... it will have an audience, but I don't know what that audience will be. I might give it a shot depending on price/ sales.
Too many people are biased toward this game because it doesn't play like SoT, hell I was biased too since this game wasn't a improved version of SoT. Let me give some brief history, naval combat was first introduced in AC3 and it was so popular it got it's own spin-off game dedicated to it called AC Black Flag. Anyone who has played these knows the naval combat is fun. Anyone that hasn't you are sorely misjudging it before trying it. Try not to compare it to SoT, it's a different beast and possibly may be a even more fun beast.
I may check this game out. I was interested in a more in-depth version of Black flag. This looked like it could be that but then they put out a lot of evidence that it was not so I'm on the fence
To be honest, it's just assassins cream black flag re skinned. Looks cool and all and I am sure its going to attract its own audience but for me, sea of thieves just has so many mechanics that's makes the game feel good
Gotta love people comparing it to SoT when it has been showcased as a different kind of pirate game for awhile now. It was never going to compete in the same waters. For those of you relieved at this though I feel bad for you, as sense SoT has no competition, they have no push to get better, as seen in their constant breaking of promises. As for me, I've been looking for something like this. SoT ships lack many of the things I love in sailing ships and despite the more arcade feel, I like that they are actual ships. Not to mention the customization is leagues better then SoT. Not for everyone I know, but I want a SHIP not the boats of SoT. I am disappointed I didn't get into the closed Beta but I'll keep my eye on it.
I already know the naval combat is gonna be fun since I've played Black Flag, if their systems trump SoT's, hell if gold/loot is still useful after the 1st month I'll gladly jump ship.
Yeah. It is different. Could be interesting, I mean, if it also has a lot of grind, then I prefer games that allow you to focus on it, while giving you the option to enjoy PvP. It is no wonder that games like that, I think of Division 2 here, still have so many players that it never felt as deserted as SoT.
Hilarious that people argue real pirate shit to defend sot. That game is a blast, no doubt about it. But if you think mfers were firing themselves from cannons or grabbing onto a ladder of a ship moving full speed from the water... idk.

Can’t wait.
I'm one of those people that can like 2 games at the same time. Maybe even 3! :O
I wished it was more focused on realism then fast and big explosions still cool you start in a small boat and have to work up to bigger ships
Wow. Amazing. 1 quastion tho, why canons are not firing at the same time?
good video, i wish canon systems were accurate and improve you cant always shoot back canons diagonally also it was supposed to take assassins c4 battle ui types since i was once in the server, anyways hyped to try it
We are hoping for a good and amazing pirate game but this just isn’t it
This dosnt look like a game that’s made in 2023 and looks like an arcade game more than anything
The graphics definitely are not equal across the board. But it isn't a final release yet either.
@@Junglist_Guy if i would get 50 penny every time i heard this defence and found out its the exact same in the final product i would have enough money for a vacation just from the bets...
Yup you can, up to a group of 3, each on their own ship
@@PhuzzyBonddoes that include yourself Ex. player 1, Player 2, player 3 (yourself)
Or is it 3 players excluding yourself
@@horizon4730 3 players total, per group
Do you need a pc for closed beta?
I really have to look it on stream how the gameplay works. It looks cool, the explosion of the ships is a big downer for me - Why didnt they go with the traditional sinking? Why does everything have to blow up? T_T
But overall, what I saw here looks interesting.
🧂😂
Go find a ship that isn't the PvP ship and form alliance. Usually works.
@@calebnewell5032people like you are the reason the games dying
Yeah but pve sea of thieves is actually immersive and fun, rather than ac black flag but with a literal explosive machine gun turret
Twisted Metal combat with crafting. To think, I’ve been waiting excitedly for this.🤦♂️
How exactly do the machine gun cannonballs work?
you start out on a max upgraded huge ship with big weapons and then get shipwrecked to start over, so basically it’s either only for that mission or a super end game weapon
I mean who thought "oh yeah let´s put a Machine Gun in the middle of the ship, people gonna like it"?
How do i get to play the beta?
I wanna give skull and bones a chance but why does the shipwreck around 5:22 look cooler than most of the player ships I saw and why does it have ballistic missiles
Dude has a Minigun in it's ship
Why can you pull out the fallout 4 explosive minigun
What prevents me from mixing big guns on my ship ?
Why I will buy weapon for my player if i cant jump and fight on pvp or npc ships they said its from ac black flag
Multirocket launchers and torpedoes? No thanks
this def feels like it's going for a different, more cinematic feel for this one compared to SoT.
Cant deny that It seems pretty immersive and good looking
No thanks. Rapid fire cannons seem kind of lame. Sea battles are all about strategy. This game misses that 100%
Even though the battles seem to be so so so unrealistic, the graphics and game looks so good
Will it run 120 fps?
I think it looks great and I love the water. The gameplay is just too fast for age of sail
Sea of thieves is like the sit down restaurant of pirate games. This seems like a fast-casual, it’s good but may not have the same feel/experience.
Can’t wait for this game, sea of thieves is great, but it gets old, let’s see if this can be good
Man I do NOT like the Battlefield 2042 style of ship combat.
I honestly had been waiting so long on any release i had given up and forgot about the game
I think it looks like if AC4 and SoT combined and lowkey might be here for it
The fire and explosions remind me of early 00's arcade game graphics.
watching these ships turn 90 degrees instantly like its a car is a massive immersion break, in SoT it takes skill to manoeuvre your ship to maintain an optimal angle. in this its just press A or D and you turn instantly
Lolol it's the intro to game.... lmao. Your meant to loose and sink your ship
I like to compare Sea of Thieves to Elite Dangerous, they have a surprising amount of similarities. I'd honestly love for Frontier to make a pirate game like the way they made Elite Dangerous, I feel like that would be such a good experience
I'm sorry but why is your ship a gatling cannon? You're basically playing OW on the seas with all these voicelines.
What would you say on a comparison between this and sea of thieves, and which do you prefer for what reasons?
Now this looks cool man. Although I gotta say, are we sure it was Phuzzy playing because those were some MISSED cannon shots lmao
Since when did pirates have machine gun cannons??
So it’s assassin creed black flag multiplayer reloaded?
this is game from ps 3 ?
SoT is more immersive but Skull and Bones looks more fun
It looks better than I had imagine
This is basically a first / third person shooter with ships.
Nah, nowhere close to SoT, just machine guns, ship view (not first person), i dot not feel like it would be my kind of game
It's giving me Sea Dogs & World Of Warship vibes.
I already know the naval combat is gonna be fun since I've played Black Flag, if their systems trump SoT's, hell if gold/loot is still useful after the 1st month I'll gladly jump ship.
The fight scene looked like battlefield but in SoT
this game looks like AC black flag and SOT mixed. really glad theres a singleplayer/no pvp mode too. looking forward to it
This game is built upon the ship part of one of the AC games. And that's where 10 years of development comes from
Safe to say SoT has nothing to worry about with this game.
But if you think mfers were firing themselves from cannons or grabbing onto a ladder of a ship moving full speed from the water... idk.
