I personally don't think Phantom Menace is the worst entry in the Prequel Trilogy. That dishonour goes to Attack of the Clones for two main reasons: 1) I effing HATED that dumpster fire of a movie, whereas I didn't hate Phantom Menace. I was merely indifferent to it. I felt nothing but hate towards Attack of the Clones. The other reason 2) is because that POS made me swear off everything that is Star Wars. I was born in '71, so I was 6 when I saw Episode 4 (I prefer to call it Star Wars 1977, but I'll defer to calling Episode 4 for this post) and I was a HUGE fan. I saw all three OT films in the theatre multiple times, but after ROTJ was released in 1983, I moved on with my life. I never read the books, or the Marvel and Dark Horse comics in the mid 80's and 90's, but I still watched the films on TV and video. I didn't really care about Han shooting first, and I never said, "George Lucas ***** my childhood" when the Special Editions were released. Yes, I didn't like the multiple changes to the films Lucas made with the Special Editions, but I didn't really care either way. And that was my reaction to Episode 1: it was meh, whatever with me. But Episode 2... no, just no. I got off the Star Wars train with that one. And now, I just don't want to watch any of the Star Wars films ever again, and I have Episode 2 to thank for that. Sorry for the long-winded post, everybody. Be good, be kind, don't litter, be genuine and take care of one another, WHM Fam.
I'm with you, Ep. 2 is worse than 1, but it's still - to borrow a Dennis Miller line - akin to comparing airline food with hospital food. I'm about the same age as you, and I was not really all that into the Star Wars world by the time the prequels came out. (My friends, on the other hand...) Thus, I didn't end up seeing Eps. 1-3 until they came out on DVD. Fortunately, I was already braced for the worst parts of Ep. 1 - Jar Jar Binks, the video-game like "sets," young Anakin. But Ep. 2? I think that episode pissed me off the most because it was such a dumpster fire in almost every way. Ep. 3 was a funny watch. I had already seen a documentary making parallels between real-life political events and the themes in the prequels, and this had a bunch of clips from the last act. It's actually what got me to finally watch the three prequels. There was a certain enjoyment to seeing the world of Ep. 4 starting to form (e.g. Anakin going into Dark Mode, the relocating the twin babies, Palpatine turning into the Emporer as we had seen him in ROTJ), but some of my least favorite lines from the entire franchise are also from that movie.
@@6thwilbury2331 I usually quote Anakin's speech about the desert from Episode 2, because it annoys me so much, 6thwilbury2331: "I hate the sand. It's rough and coarse and it gets everywhere". Ugh. Shut the eff, you smarmy little Fascist pig. And Padme is not into you, anyway, you little crybaby. Episode 3 was the best of the Prequel films, but that's not saying much. I didn't see it until it was released on DVD a year after the the theatrical run in 2005. 19 years ago. Damn. Where does the time go? It's alright, but I don't want to see it ever again. Padme had nothing to do in that film, except die in childbirth, and the lightsaber duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan went on way way too long. I was more invested in Yoda's duel with Palpatine, anyway. I did like the Order 66 montage, however. I wish we could have had more of that. But then, we also have Anakin's turn and betraying the Jedi Order; he did all of that, because of his nightmares of Padme dying in childbirth, and Yoda and the Council told him to suck it up and grow a pair, but Palpatine gave him a "way out"? Um, okay... Regarding the real-world parallels to the events in the Prequel Trilogy, it's more relevant today even more so. It's downright scary. So, were you an Original Trilogy fan when you were growing up, 6thwilbury2331? Or were you not a Star Wars fan in particular? Or am I misinterpreting your second paragraph? Sorry for the long-winded post (again), 6thwillbury2331. It was great talking to you. I hope you and yours will have a safe and happy holiday tomorrow. Bye for now.
I’m sorry but I refuse to believe George took his time and “craft” these films. He was asleep at the wheel until ep 3 and only made a bunch of Glub Shitto’s so he could sell toys.
I’ve listened before , I’ll listen again. Yehaw
❤
The windy cameo still cracks me up. Literally “phoning(it)in from cloud city, apparently.”
“Someone’s got tired little legs” 😂😂😂

And it's still better than what we got
It's Glup, not Glub. Also, you're just wrong.
He wrote one draft for all three preqs
Nobody told him it sucks
Everyone treated him like a virgin cancer kid
@jandubovan7198 Cite your source, because that's not correct.
Andrew “it’s a living” Jupin
"..Darth Mal-drew.."! omgosh lmao out of the gate..
Great timing! Just leaving work
The space nascar race was one of the dumbest things in a major motion picture ever. Who could possibly give a crap?
Fitting.
Hrm, Eric Szyszka definitely dropped the ball. Should've been "Sith-szka".
Hahaha yeah... he has the best name of the crew for that gag
