    Great video - I want to send a personalised email to each rep with their visit numbers. How do you do that?

    This really pisses me off. Microsoft office is supposed to be easy to use but not really. I guess I'll have clients getting 40 emails tomorrow, once for each line,.

    Hi Chris - Thank you for this. As of today, 2/19/21 - I'm not able to find that coding on the Microsoft support page. Can you help with a new link or possibly email me the coding?

    help anyone! I have data: date, time, room, module - I have sorted on room and I want a sheet for every new date/time in a room with the relevant modules listed - I can't get the modules to list - it just does the same one twice - am I asking the impossible or have I done something wrong?

    Thank you so much. Short and very informative, to the point without wasting time and explanatory.

    How can I merge directory into 2 table columns. I merged the directory in 1 column, then I formated as 2 columns. It starts with counties names Example Alameda and shows all the contacts, address, some staff name, phone, fax, email on each paragraph, then it goes up to the top of the 2nd column. The problem is it's a hell dealing with columns. This directory has 30 pages it's a directory of many counties from A to Z. So how I can merge into a table with 2 cells, how the text will go up to 2nd cell of the table, comes down and go back to the 1st column of the table. I am still trying and can't get right. Table is easy you just grab to the right and left to adjust the margins. The columns get too cumbersome. I wonder if I am putting right the merging code you start with Countyname on first column of the table, then on the 2nd column of the table do I put nextrecordCounyname? nextrecord gets me confused. I tried to set up as label to use the box of the label, but the mergin says my text is too big for the label how I set if choose label settings only 4 counties fits in one page: 2 sets on the top of the page, and another 2 counties split in 2 columns fit on the remainder of the page. I was able to merge and I get very nice project, I got a lot compliments, but I don't want to continue using columns. I want to use table for better handling margins.

    Hello Chris thanks for the video I was able to get multiple rows for customer orders. I have some additional fields I would like to add after the group is complete like subtotal, tax and total. With the current demo code if I add the {MERGEFIELD orders_subtotal} it will be repeated on every line of the grouping. Is there a way to escape the grouping and add these fields directly after the grouping but staying within the same mail merge?

      The only way I know how that can be done is with a Word add-in by Graham Mayor. I made a video on his Add-in a couple years ago. It did work. Here's his web page www.gmayor.com/ManyToOne.htm

    This is very helpful, but it would be even better if you could spend a little time going over the field codes that you inserted. Its hard to figure out how to adapt this for another purpose and document without some understanding of exactly how your code is set up to do the function of grouping records on the same page.

    Sorry, is not working for me. How you wrote the code? I think this is the key here. Basically, if copy and paste the code provided by Microsoft, Word 2013 does not recognize the MERGEFIELDS.
    If you can clarify this point, I will really appreciate

    Hey Chris great video - I have most of it working except one thing ... my header row just appears once (ie: the Rep appears once), even though the details for each would be rep appear properly. So I basically have the first rep and clients, then have the clients grouped properly for other reps ..... but just blank space where the rep name should be. Any ideas? Thanks!

    sorry for posting the question on this video as well, but double the chances of getting an answer for me :) so, what line do I type in, in order to get a total field, for instance, a total number of visits for Watson?

    • @ChrisMenardTraining

      Morning @@ChrisMenardTraining . Any chance you've had luck creating an email message instead of a directory using the grouping? Using your demo as an example, is it possible to email each of the reps the number of visits. I've been unsuccessful in tinkering with this script and have been scrounging around the internet looking for ideas.

    You MUST start mail merge using DIRECTORY type, not LETTER type.

    Chris says to use Directory but I missed that part.

    Chris, can we send email from every word files after we mail merge as same time?

  • @Muggleston
    @Muggleston 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! Thanks much! You mentioned doing this for clients - do you ever need to email each page separately? In other words, using your example, how would you email each rep their own totals?

    • @ChrisMenardTraining
      @ChrisMenardTraining  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can be done. You have to put each rep in their own file and do a mail merge with each rep getting an email with just their file. There is an Excel tool that will make the reps automatically be put on a separate worksheet and then each worksheet gets saved a a separate file. I'm making a video on it this weekend.
