Brings back wonderful dances in South Chicago, at Marquette Garden Hall, near St. Mary Magdalene's Polish school. When I was a teen, I didn't go to the school dances of the 1960's which were Motown mostly, but instead wen to the Polish dances. My favorites were Lil' Wally & Marion Lush (Ampolaires). Gals I hung around with were Polka Queens. They taught me the Oberek, the Single Hop Polka, the Double Hop Polka, and even the "Twist" Polka, complicated. Top of body did Twist: bottom double hop!
I remember the Polka shows on WGN - there were some really good dancers then. Sad to see how the once beautiful South Side has become a violent hell hole.
Those were some fun times!!!! Eddie Potoniec and Stix & Tones (with my hubby Bob on keyboards) backing Maniu. Eddie and the guys were some of our favorite musicians to work with.
@kotek62750 Marion Lush is the singer dressed in red and playing a keyboard. He was my favorite, along with Li'l Wally when I was a child living in Chicago. His music was aboslutely awesome. Rich
Always loved Lush and Blazonczyk.
Wonderful video of some of our Polka heros long gone! Thanks for bringing back those precious memories!!

You lucky!!! Few young kids know what it is to really have fun anymore. I see it making a comeback tho.
