I'm the same way lol. For some reason I'm just endlessly attracted to dangerous and deadly things. Potato guns, flamethrowers, firearms, knives, burning lasers, high voltage electronics. If it can hurt you, kill you, or go fast I probably like it.

This being so powerful, cheap, well made, and available in the US makes it for me the benchmark for a good laser. Everyone who sees the light from this thing is mindblown.
For a benchmark you need good consistency. I've heard a LOT of mixed reviews, especially with the red and green ones being massively lower than spec. However, most of the blue ones seem to be right around the 1w mark, but I've heard that's due to blue lasers being easier/cheaper to make high powered. I would prefer green, but due to consistency, I think I will probably go with blue.
It's only illegal when they advertise it as a laser pointer. No restrictions on modules or diodes or anything. They probably don't want people thinking a 1w laser can be used as a pointer

You are correct about the fumes with electrical tape. Most is made with PVC plastic, which produces carcinogenic, toxic fumes when burned. Really well done BTW!!
I bought one it's great I paid 75 if I remember correctly but I just bought a Thor M 2 and paid 50 for it and by far it's the best laser for my money thanks for the review
I just got this laser yesterday and i absolutely love it, it is so amazing and so bright, and it amazes everybody i show it too, when i first got this laser i thought i wasn't going to need my laser safety glasses but right when i turned it on i was proven wrong, anyways i just wanna say that i am very impressed and very happy with the laser i received. I got one from a Taiwanese seller,and the case that I got is actually the one that house everything better just like the one at 7:49.This laser is just amazing! It burns stuff really easy and quick! I love this laser!!!
I have this same laser...cost about 64usd for me. My meter reads 1.2w to 1.3w! Excellent first laser 100%! You can order without the case.lights matches and incense. I have not been able to light a leaf or paper but got a small votive candle to finally light. Reacts well with any dark material. Wood burning and engraving is easy...makes a very fine burn line. I personally love the style of the host. Not sure of cycle times but I've had it on for a few minutes 3 to 5 and have so far got hours of use. Very good quality for the money, this same laser power 10 years ago would have cost 200 to 400usd!

I can now verify the blue lasers are actually just the 90mw version sold as 1w. I can verify you're is over 10 times more powerful than mine, and come in exactly the same case and kit. So it varies from seller to seller which diode is installed.
I like to add to your well done video. Nice job! I have this laser which is well worth the money . One important thing is that the cheap low powered Chinese lasers will not operate in cold temperatures. This laser has no problem dealing with the cold as far as the electronics goes. The LD must have photo optic feedback signal capabilities feeding the current regulation / noise elimination circuits. Im going to build a 3 -5 laser soon . almost have all parts I need. I put this laser in the FREEZER FOR 2 HOURS TOOK IT OUT AND IT FIRED UP WITH NO APPARENT DROP IN OPTICAL OUTPUT. This laser is very stable and consistent in performance. Love it. I want to stress to everyone to do your part in preventing illegal / stupid use of lasers so that we can keep them legal and enjoy them for years to come. You would have to be a real dumb ass to point lasers at airplanes, helicopters, ALIEN SPACECRAFT . Unless the ufo is ready to beam u aboard to perform experiments on you. Lol. Will the scattered reflected laser light harm your eyes? I'm not talking about a coherent beam reflection as from a mirror, but rather, for example, from looking at the beam landing on a piece of white paper. I'm not sure I have the same laser, frankly. It looks identical, but mine has a Class III sticker on it and claims to have a variety of powers all the way from 1W to 50W. I don't think those two things factually reconcile, but I'm not a laser expert. I think the first rating might be accurate (1000mw) but all the other ones that follow may have one zero too many. I cut it on and off to make sure the batteries were in correctly (they have the illustration backward) and didn't look directly at it. I then put on the goggles for everything else I tried, but now I have to ascertain if my DeWalt laser goggles (or these included goggles) will suffice or if I need to get a better set of goggles. If so, what goggles will make this safe to use if the included ones won't? TIA.

UPDATE: Testing this laser with my LPM showed an average power of 1075mw, or 1.075 watts. Be extremely careful where you aim this laser, and never aim it at any living thing or vehicle. And always use laser safety glasses!

It's only illegal to sell as a "pointer". Otherwise there is nothing illegal about international shipping. Sometimes there are also issues of completeness, or certain features required for models of certain strengths. Or shipping might otherwise he more expensive if marked a certain way. Selling anything above 5mw as "a pointer" is the only illegal aspect

I like the design. Got 3 lasers, Green pointer 150mW with keys, Red module with adjustable stand and battery pack 250mW and My violet module 600mW with battery pack and wall plug. All focusable, have to say My violet 600mW burns faster then that 1W. Red matches as soon as you cross the beam, White walls, paper ect instantly, catches wood on fire under a minute. Burns holes though many things, had to get a black anodized aluminum sheet as a backstop. Has a cooling fan in the back and all so must be higher than 1W. $45 on eBay shipped. I'll upload some videos soon but good review been looking at one of these. Check out Ray Foss they sell the best lasers on the web.
I would say the case is thin wood and the outside edge is aluminum the flat parts are silver plastic ! But it is a nice box . The reason I say that I’ve got them from so many places with nothing in them I repurpose them . Got them from real good shape and real bad shape I’ve seen the insides and guts and all ! You can get you a peace of that foam an cut your own placement orientation it would be easy to do with a razor knife ! Also if you make a mold of what you want you can use the foam in a can you just have to trim it depending how you make it ! Great video it would be great if we could get these I don’t think you can get them anymore ! I’ve seen cigeretts lit with them!

To address your burning results. My friend gave me his laser, it was just like this one, broken now, but it had an acrylic lens, it struggled to light paper on fire. I got a new one, that was actually fitted with a glass lens, it lights paper on fire with ease.
I just got the complete package today this blue laser. It is freaking awesome the sticker on it says 50,000 mW I don't know how true that is but I can tell you one thing I literally can burn a hole through a cardboard box the only issue is the star cabs are made of plastic a little cheap but they're good overall I'm very happy overall this this is one serious laser

I just received this laser today, paid $48 on Ebay. Purchased it to go on a camping trip and have a little fun with it. Call me crazy but it feels like a bit too much power. Now I have to worry about blinding myself, my friends or possibly a coyote five miles away. Anyway, I'm sure it'll be fine, just going to have to be very, very careful with it.
DAN HALEN Please don’t use them, they don’t work, I got the same laser but I bought some laser goggles on amazon($40) which are really good. I pointed the laser at the red goggles and it burned a hole straight through them. The laser goggles I got were from FreeMascot
DAN HALEN man take it as a warning, at least you are not blind now. I would never use this laser without safety glasses. And yes you need good ones but it is better to take invest some money in protection then getting blind.

@@madscientistshusta It actually would not work, at least for the blue version of this laser. The blue ones have an operating voltage of 7.4 volts, so it actually requires two 3.7v 16340s, or RCR123A batteries. One 18650 is only 3.7v so it would not be adequate for the blue models. However it does work for the red and green ones.
@@TheMisterTango The reason the 2 small batteries work is because they are connected in series, which doubles the voltage of the 2. Putting one 18650 cell wouldn't change the voltage and operates at 3.7 volts instead.

They can burn under certain circumstances but nowhere near as good as the blue ones I know you posted this a year ago so you might have figured that out by now the blue ones are also more expensive.
I bought that laser for 49$ and the laser diode died after 2 month of usage (I did not even use it that much). But it was indeed very powerful, enjoyed lightening fireworks at new years eve
Got mine last week. Burns great....but sucks power and kills battery pronto!!! Needs ac/dc power supply plug-into wall! Be sure to adhere to “down” time.
Took 5 months to get mine they showed up without the box without the batteries without the charger and without the star caps. I would love to order the stuff but I feel lucky to have gotten the lasers tbt. It was a nightmare of emails, threats and reports but I finally have at least the lasers. Mine were from Aluminux. Can't wait to try them if I can find the batteries. Oh mine came with a green laser
So how's this laser holding up since purchasing? I work in the Tree Service industry and have a low power green laser for using as a pointer when working with clients. Word of warning, if you get a green laser with no IR filter your protection needs to be able to block IR light too

You can use 2x 16340 batteries or one 18650 battery. Both methods work

How effective is this for self-defense? Carrying in the bag for example? I live in a country where firearms are illegal, but still is a very violent country.

It's only illegal to sell as a "pointer". Otherwise there is nothing illegal about international shipping. Sometimes there are also issues of completeness, or certain features required for models of certain strengths. Or shipping might otherwise he more expensive if marked a certain way. Selling anything above 5mw as "a pointer" is the only illegal aspect

I like the design. Got 3 lasers, Green pointer 150mW with keys, Red module with adjustable stand and battery pack 250mW and My violet module 600mW with battery pack and wall plug. All focusable, have to say My violet 600mW burns faster then that 1W. Red matches as soon as you cross the beam, White walls, paper ect instantly, catches wood on fire under a minute. Burns holes though many things, had to get a black anodized aluminum sheet as a backstop. Has a cooling fan in the back and all so must be higher than 1W. $45 on eBay shipped. I'll upload some videos soon but good review been looking at one of these. Check out Ray Foss they sell the best lasers on the web.
I like the push button too. Some of them have a safety key that I might find annoying.

I would say the case is thin wood and the outside edge is aluminum the flat parts are silver plastic ! But it is a nice box . The reason I say that I’ve got them from so many places with nothing in them I repurpose them . Got them from real good shape and real bad shape I’ve seen the insides and guts and all ! You can get you a peace of that foam an cut your own placement orientation it would be easy to do with a razor knife ! Also if you make a mold of what you want you can use the foam in a can you just have to trim it depending how you make it ! Great video it would be great if we could get these I don’t think you can get them anymore ! I’ve seen cigeretts lit with them!

Depending on where you live, lasers above 5mW (or even 1mW) of output power are likely illegal to use in public (i.e. outside of your house), sometimes even illegal to possess.
No matter what your local regulations are, you should still NEVER use a laser above 1mW outdoors and definitely not point it towards any animals like shown in the video ("Several geese flew away"), cars or other people (even worse at night, since you don't see where you are pointing). You also mustn't point the laser towards the sky, as this action can blind pilots and might (again depending on your local laws) even be punished with imprisonment.
In the United States they're not illegal to purchase or possess but they're illegal to sell without the loophole...

I would not suggest playing with these Your pets. They ate extremely bright and dangerous to retinas. So yeah don't buy this one to use to play with Your pets, buy a less stronger beam. These can absolutely destroy Your eyes.

To address your burning results. My friend gave me his laser, it was just like this one, broken now, but it had an acrylic lens, it struggled to light paper on fire. I got a new one, that was actually fitted with a glass lens, it lights paper on fire with ease.

I just got the complete package today this blue laser. It is freaking awesome the sticker on it says 50,000 mW I don't know how true that is but I can tell you one thing I literally can burn a hole through a cardboard box the only issue is the star cabs are made of plastic a little cheap but they're good overall I'm very happy overall this this is one serious laser

I bought the exact same laser off Amazon but the bottom part of my case does match the top as well as all compartments are correct size and the actual laser is brilliant burns through lots of different materials very strong laser
I got mine from wish.com for a total of. £50 I went back to the shipping information weeks later and I noticed it still said "In transit" so I emailed them telling them "where is my laser" anyway I got a full refund. Haha. free laser! 😊

I just received this laser today, paid $48 on Ebay. Purchased it to go on a camping trip and have a little fun with it. Call me crazy but it feels like a bit too much power. Now I have to worry about blinding myself, my friends or possibly a coyote five miles away. Anyway, I'm sure it'll be fine, just going to have to be very, very careful with it.

DAN HALEN Please don’t use them, they don’t work, I got the same laser but I bought some laser goggles on amazon($40) which are really good. I pointed the laser at the red goggles and it burned a hole straight through them. The laser goggles I got were from FreeMascot

The blue ones have an operating voltage of 7.4 volts, so it actually requires two 3.7v 16340s, or RCR123A batteries. One 18650 is only 3.7v so it would not be adequate for the blue models. However it does work for the red and green ones.
@@TheMisterTango The reason the 2 small batteries work is because they are connected in series, which doubles the voltage of the 2. Putting one 18650 cell wouldn't change the voltage and operates at 3.7 volts instead.

So how's this laser holding up since purchasing? I work in the Tree Service industry and have a low power green laser for using as a pointer when working with clients.
