It took me a while to get into Shellac - their goals are quite different from BB (not to mention that neither is purely an extension of Albini). They've grown on me. Watch song is recent and doesn't sound anything like BB - what do you think of that?

Bob Weston(bass) -> Traynor TS-50B into a crown power amp and (I think) 2x15 speakers. You can get similar sound with the Rusty Box preamp pedal connected to a power amp(Bob uses this in Eu tours sometimes I heard) Steve Albini uses a Fender bassman(59 or 65, not sure) I think. But you also need to keep in mind that their aluminium neck guitars are also a huge part of their sound.
Only teenage girls who listen to the latest boy bands/pop craze care about looks. It's all about the music, and Shellac's is top notch, so enjoy it for what it is.
