Hello Isaac: I have lived and worked in a "non-white" country. Unfortunately, racism is a human universal. There is nothing inherently good or bad about white people. It's the same with every other race. I hope both of you (soon to be three), stay well and safe.

Racism existed in the old times, don't get that narrative mixed in with todays, brainwashed morons. If you keep saying something over and over and over again then it is going to stick. Look online and see the millions of youtube clips of kids, dark melanin and light melanin. Playing games, holding hands, hugging and getting along. Then look at the crap drilled into their heads from all this BS. We are not hating from our souls, we are young and brainwashed from DHEADS that want to destroy us. I see a person not a bloody color, color is a F'ING RAINBOW NOT A HUMAN MELANIN SPECTRUM! Martin Luther King, look him up and learn from a smart man, not a brainwashed zombie!!

I see so many black people online complaining about how white people are the problem, but then I see the black community do shit like saying "all black men are assholes" like bruh. I was told by an American friend of mine that while the intent is good, “colour blindness” is racist. I was like what? I literally will interact with anyone of any colour or ethnicity in the same non-hateful way. The only time I’ll treat them any different is if they’re giving me a reason to. And that goes for white people too. But the ideal of colour blindness in that sense is racist? “Yeah because you discount the struggles they’ve had with systemic racism.” But the system is now more against me. Especially since I’m a white male. And would only be worse if I were straight and not bi.
How many politicians in the world are now on the “white people are racist” bandwagon? The majority of young people all think white people are racist by nature (a racist viewpoint in itself) and they say only white people CAN be racist which is also a racist viewpoint.
Hell I went off on a black person on Twitter (probably my first mistake there) for them calling white people “children of chalk” and was ridiculed for it and told it’s not racist because we’re not marginalised. Imagine the hatred, death threats, doxxing and whatnot I’d have gotten if I’d say the n-word wasn’t racist. This shit is going too far.

I'm white. I was raised in a not so nice neighborhood. Most people call it the "hood", because very few people carry themselves as neighbors there. I got my ass kicked, had my pockets turned out, my coats stolen, etc. many times growing up. One day, like 10 to 15 years after all of that, I ran into a couple of the guys that used to take part in jumping me at a party. Hilariously, they extended their hand and said what's up and greeted me warmly, as if I was one of their homies. I was taken aback, but I wasn't rude. After our initial meeting, we all sat down and lit a blunt. We started talking about the old neighborhood and I asked them, "Why did you guys beat me up almost every time you saw me? That shit fucked me up as a kid." They were silent for a few minutes and neither of them spoke until the blunt got back to me. One of the two, his name was Jenettus (the other guy was named Dominique), spoke up and said, "Well.. You're white. We saw you in our hood. And that was our spot. We didn't like seeing you there." I opened my mouth to say something, but Dominique cut me off and said, "You being white was definitely part of it, but as I've gotten older bro, I think saying we beat you up for being white is the easy explanation. It's what we could tell ourselves to absolve us of our guilt. Because in the black community, who's gonna get mad at you for saying you beat up a white kid walking around your hood?" We all chuckled a little bit at that. But then I noticed that Dom's facial expression had changed. Like, the kind of expression a man gets when he's deep in thought, but also right on the precipice of figuring something out. I motioned to Jenettus to take a look at Dom. Then Dom spoke again. He said, "I remember you used to always have something new with you. New set of headphones, or a skateboard or a Game Boy, and I wanted it. We all did. I think what it was is that even though we knew your mom didn't buy you Nike shoes or Nautica clothes, we always saw you with something new. And a lot of us didn't have that. We didn't have someone to replace the things we lost. Or to give us bandaids when we got beat up. And I think we took that stuff from you because you had something we didn't. And since we couldn't have the thing we really wanted, we took the things you had." We all got real quiet for a long long time. Then, the blunt was out.
Now, I'd love to say that I stayed in touch with them and we overcame that which we grew up around, but to be honest my life took some crazy turns and we lost contact shortly after that meeting. But I never forgot it. And it's stuck with me for almost ten years now. What it shows me is that racism does exist, yes... but the roots of racism are planted in the soil of hatred. Honestly, I blame their parents moreso than I blame them. Racism could die so easily. All it takes is for people to stop harboring the hate. To stop teaching their children about the despicable things that have been done because of racism. I've never watched two Easter Eggs fight to the death because one was pink and the other purple. Nah, they're just happy a rabbit is there to take them where they need to be. The Easter Egg Race doesn't fight and because of that, millions of children and thousands of Hallmark cards and gift baskets bring happiness every year. My point is, there is only one race, the human race. We're all just colored a bit different.

Like, the title of Queen/King isn't dead, just the person who held that title. If the monarchy died with her I can see why people would be happy but it didn't.

Even in a small town she has found a multi cultural group of friends and only judges people on how they treat her as a person. Perfect examples are Education, Vegans vs Non-Vegans, LGBTQ+ with non-LGBTQ+, also Religion and Culture. I agree with every point you made and admire you for the forthright and forcefully coherent way you expressed yourself. I had a discussion similar to the one the two women were having and when I was asked whether I had ever been discriminated against (a loaded question with a hidden landmine waiting to be stepped on...) I said : "Yes." I was then pressed to explain how me, a white man, had ever been discriminated against and I answered that the question was "whether I had ever been discriminated against", period, full stop, skin-color hadn't been part of the question. I then went on to explain that I had lived a significant portion of my life homeless, on the streets of California, digging in dumpsters and sleeping under a tarp beside the freeway and that I learned all anybody needs to learn about discrimination from that experience. This produced an odd mixture of sympathy and resistance from my adversary and a reaction that boiled down to this: "Unless your were discriminated against based upon your skin-color you haven't really experienced discrimination." My reply signaled the end of the discussion and caused the individual who had been attempting to shut down or minimalize my viewpoint to flee, my reply had simply been this: "It WAS the color of my skin, my skin was DIRT-COLORED..."
The above story illustrates the desperation with which people who are racist themselves cling to their subconscious rationale and weaponize their own bias to shut-down other opinions that hold as much truth as their own experiences do because their sense of outrage and justice won't allow them to accept that their own skin-color has not been singled-out to mark them as targets but that they voluntarily assume that position to gain an advantage without having to really think about what they are implying about themselves...which is that THEY are racists and their own words prove it.

I'm an Australian of Italian descent I experienced a lot of racism growing up in the 70s in Australia. Called a wog, dago, told to go back to my own country. Was continually bullied by white Aussies. The thing is, my mums white Australian, father was Italian and I'm white.

Hi Issac, I hope you get to read this but I love your videos and this is one of my very few comments I ever actually type out. I've been following you for years and I always come back around to your content even when youtube is trying to get rid of you off my youtube page. I almost always enjoy your videos and a lot of them have helped me through rough times. I hope you'll keep making more videos for years to come, and I wish the best for you and the Mrs. Butterfield in the near future and far off distant future. :)

Way back in 1989 when I tried going to college to get a better job (emphasis on "tried"), I was enrolled in a church run university and hence HAD TO take either classes on religion or philosophy. Since I had no great wish to discuss religion with strangers, I chose philosophy/ sociology. I was drawn to a class titled "Racism in America" because its syllabus promised lectures and group discussions on "What British colonists did to Indigenous North Americans", "The stateside concentration camps that Asian Americans were sent to after the bombing of Pearl Harbor", and "How Eskimo and Polynesian cultures were virtually destroyed when Alaska and Hawaii became states".
However, the professor of this class had been changed since the publication of the syllabus. The NEW professor was an African-American woman, and she cancelled all of the previously scheduled guest speakers in favor of talking about her own personal experiences as a black child born in the U.S. in the 1950s. Seeing that the entire class was white and roughly 18 to 22 years of age, we DID find it informative. But after an entire semester of just listening to this woman's view of black and white relations in the United States (and nothing else) we all felt a bit short changed.

I associate with all different types of people who have heaps of different view points. If they accept me, I accept them...
However if they accuse me of being racist, sexist, bigot, etc for just existing I take a page out of Eminem's song. 'I am whatever you say I am' and I play on that shit hard...they would not meet a bigger racist, sexist ,bigot etc, because they want you to deny it and bow down to them which I wont do

Me watching this as a white man in my country which (in my case) makes me part of the minority, gives me a strong feeling of relatability. It is only when I had a stint at public school over here that I had a first-hand experience of black on white racism. It makes you feel ostracized and blatantly left out. Majority of my close family is white but yet, we are still a minority group in our own country. It is what it is, and the most f**ed up part of it…. Is that over here we treat white expats with more respect than our own fair-skinned locals 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

I’ve been bullied for speaking out about Disney’s choice to cast Halle Bailey as The Little Mermaid. I literally am not allowed to say anything about it without being called racist….
I wanted to say the movie might not do well if the film is dull in colour (lighting)
But people immediately said “oh you’re racist if you think this movie is gonna be bad” 😑
I also think there’s a double standard with people having no issue casting someone of colour to play a Caucasian character. But if the roles are reversed, the film would be cancelled and the director bullied on Twitter…

I'm italian and have been called a 'tally bastard' and told to 'get back to my own country' even though I was born in the UK. We're the same colour and have the same accent. Skin colour isn't the problem here but it's still racism🤷. Some humans are nasty animals.
I read that all zebras look mostly the same and, while they DO attack the lame, lions also look for different markings so they can work together to bring down one animal.. not racist, just hungry.
And humans?.. not racist, just nasty?
If I remember an old forgotten expression correctly it goes.. 'mind your own business '..

growing up and being the token Asian in just about every school, I deat with racism from everyone; that's exactly why I refuse to treat anyone that way. I didn't understand why people hated me, because my mom is white but my dad is Japanese; kids are mean and when you're different it hurts, especially when you don't fully understand why you are being mistreated. sadly even some of my teachers mistreated me but I don't hate them, my dad raised me to do onto others as I would want done onto me; I don't see color, I see people. love is the weapon that is needed to end unnecessary hate. I feel sorry for anyone who hates needlessly and unfortunately media only adds fuel to the fire. thank you for talking about this because it really needs to be said

One of the greatest ironies is that the horrors of colonialism were because of people being sanctimonious and believing they had superior morality that they therefore could force others to comply with.
Agatha Christie's first book which was heavily censored to remove the any reference to race was a commentary on the hypocrisy of the people claiming others were savages as they excused their own power games under the guise of morality

David Unaipon (fellah on the AU$50 note), said that he was happy that the British came to Australia and that his race (Indigenous Australians) have benefited from Wrstern settlement....and Mr Unaipon went on to become a brilliant inventor, designing a helicopter, many many years before helicopters were a thing.
