Although I’m a born-in proud, and well placed Baptist out of the historic Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church of Seattle, WA, I grew up just around the corner from Tolliver Temple COGIC. I lived on 19th just north of Fir St., Goodwill on 15th & Fir, and Tolliver Temple on 20th & Fir. As a child less than 10 years old, I heard Bishop Tolliver, Elder James, Bishops Althiemer, and Westbrook. I attended Convocations and prayer meetings. To prove my words, an elderly Mother, Mother Dorothy Pickens of the RedeemerMBC said to me, “Rev. Mitchell, I hear old baptist folk coming up out of you in church, but sometime you switch up and up out of you comes the COGIC.” I laugh and told her she was right. I said that to say this, I know not only the spirit of COGIC, but I also know what it means to touch heaven being full of the Holy Ghost and that with the Saints. My heart breaks watching this homegoing of such great man. Something about this service is missing. Formal, yes, but something appears tight and strained. I can’t wait to hear Bishop Sheard preach. The music is way off and not united. The wrong songs were selected for the choir; oh for shame. My beloved baptist church that I served is all but gone and a shadow of what the National Baptist churches use to be. I pray that y’all will notice allow division to invade the COGIC. Give Bishop and Lady Karen a chance - a fair gracious and prayerful chance. Whatever binds, shake it off. Whatever is confused, reach into truth and understanding. And whatever V brings doubt, reach out and into the Holy Ghost. Foremost lean steadfastly upon the graceful and merciful unchanging hand of Yah Our God and Father of The Jesus our Lord and Savior. How about Lord send deliverance to our church and leaders and help us to be strong faith Pentecostals like we once were and walk in deliverance and be able to feed the flock of God as need be and save souls. Then, the blessing and covering will come. We must get it right first.

Well, he was just elected so they have to pay respects and pray with him through this journey. As well as the family’s journey without Bishop.
