If Fitzy has any sense of what's best for the team in 2025, he'll re-sign Trindall & Atkins as his 7 & 6 & put Nicho at #1. That's a lot stronger spine in my opinion.
The problem with Hynes: he doesn't tackle, he doesnt run the ball enough to offer a run threat to slice through and avoids contact. He wont straighten the attack. Defenses pretty much avoid marking him knowing he isnt a threat, and will shift the ball onwards
Hynes just not up to this level, he chokes in big games, his pass selection was shocking, didn't read the conditions, didn't lead the team around the park, kicking was ineffective. Trindall needs to take over for the time being until Atkins is ready to take over permanently.
5 straight GFs with the potential of winning 4 in a row is absolutely ludicrous. One of, if not the greatest team in Australian sporting history. People will mention St George’s 11 in a row, but I’m my opinion, it dosent compare. To be doing this with a salary cap is crazy. The players they’ve lost over these 5 years could field a team and win a comp in their own right. In the professional era where blokes are paid to be athletes, salary cap, pre-seasons, 27 rounds, origin period, finals. It’s absolutely incredible, we won’t see this again, not in our lifetimes.
No point comparing teams of times past to modern era. That’s just silly to compare. The record will be 11 and always will. However this Penrith squad will be the greatest team this generation no doubt about that.
@@blakedickenson2394 It’s a much more diluted competition than it’s ever been. It’s difficult to compare different eras, but would have been more difficult to achieve this even several years ago. There are only a handful of genuine star players compared to previously. The current competition has never been weaker, with only two teams who were in the competition, which was obvious midway through the season. The two coincidences about Storm and Penrith is they can lose players and replace them, because they have a system which is unlike other teams. A player comes in and follows the system, rather than try to be their own player.
Yeah, and with the salary cap in place as well. Look at all the World Class players they've lost over the years. They've still got it by keeping together a nexus of key players.
Coaches need tactics these days, not just passion. This clip shows Meninga's got nothing unique or clever to add to the conversation. Drop Meninga as Aussie coach. 30-0 is coming again. Give Bellamy a go.
Nico didn't show up or do anything. Sometimes you leave a good thing like the Storm and your flaws are seen by everyone. 4 kicks and he's a 7? Put him at fullback or center. Put the young gun they got again ex Storm at the 7. Less pressure and at fullback he can play stress free
Watching the game last night with my dad . When with the bunkers ruling that a perfect legitimately try, was in fact a penalty to the sharks for obstruction. Then a a penalty for alnkle high tackle a few plalys later. Sharks on the front foot score . I turned to my dad and said thats going to piss the panthers off i mean red face head explosion pissed off . 5 minutes later and 2 trys on . What can you say about this team
The Sharkies can take a lot away from this game - arguably their best showing since the miracle of 2016. Penrith gave them an absolute shellacking in both games during the season and they lost by 20 points on the night. That might seem like an odd 'plus', but it was far less embarrassing than the scorelines in either of the other big footy games this weekend. I'm hoping that the NRL Grand Final is a much closer game than the AFL deliivered, even if I believe the Panthers will take home the chocolates again. Bring it on.
Since melbourne storm entered the comp 1998, their record in games wone finals played and as a club in general, cannot be touched by any other professional sporting organization in the country. I hope that some time soon sports fans in melbourne realise what they have in this great club, and show them the support they deserve.
Melbourne are a great club, no doubt about that at all, but they will always have an asterisk for having been caught cheating and having titles stripped from them. Imagine how many more titles Penrith could win if they cheated the cap and kept Crighton, Leniu, Kikau, Korisau, Burton etc.
@@daleviker5884 Thats true, but all clubs have baggage, and if you remember, at around the same time there was a cavalcade of player movements around the league, storm got wacked and rightly so, but in my opinion, this was a warning to all clubs to get there acts together. Very different playing conditions. No comparison and given how wet it was last night I think Penrith handled it better than any team.
