    Allowing kicks and knees on the ground completely changes ground fighting tactics so much. Normally DJ would’ve been fine in that position but with the grounded knees he wasn’t. I think it would be hard for a lot of UFC fighters to adjust to that rule set.

    That knee was hidden. He was holding dj as dj was trying to scramble up. Very hard to see the knee coming in a split second when you are scrambling to get up. The upper cut was delivered hidden and so was the knee kinda. So for those saying Dj will be more ready for the knee next time. It was not an open view knee it was kinda thrown hidden and he had dj in a position where he was a bit too busy trying to break free to notice an incoming knee. That other guy is very skilled too.The other guy also was controlling djs head movement with arm and elbow. Before he released the knee. Very skilled.

    • @otallono
      @otallono ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He won't be ready for the knee because he ended up in that position because of being already rocked. But that doesn't mean he would have been finished if he wasn't kneed. In UFC you have to finish your opponent with punches or submission. Here, we have a lethal knee, there's no way to avoid it like you said. I think UFC has it right, they want to showcase more skill on the ground and after all it is MMA and DJ looked to be the more skilled fighter, leading up to the uppercut. The knee seemed to not belong and was too devastating. It isn't like getting kicked standing, you can back away quickly and block, duck, etc. Fighters should be protected to some extent, if we want to make it more like a street fight well then you'd also have to allow groin strikes and eye pokes because that's all you'd really have to do to win a street fight.

      It's like coming back from an injury, everything is rusty. When rules are different, you go in there knowing the rules but you're not thinking it will happen and the rules wont be at the back of your mind. Because you're not used to seeing knee on a down opponent. Second fight it will be different because he will be looking for that type because he was hit with it.
