Jay, your video production gets better and better. You present things so clearly it makes for a pleasurable learning experience and your humour (U.K.) really comes through in your post effects! Thanks.

Jason Copsey Couldn't agree more about Jay's skills, production and presentation (I was reading comments to make sure I didn't copy what others had said and you beat me to it). Don't understand the uk humour bit though.

Went to the pyramids 25ish years ago so thank you for reminding me...YOUR BACK... Full video on a fantastic project, yeehaw!!! I can't do woodworking, no room. All I have is my small, rented one bed flat so I'm learning silversmithing and about to start leather crafting. But I love watching your builds, your attention to detail, skill and pure love of the craft come shinning through and enlivens me and many others. You're a real insperation to us, so thank you from the heart.

I like your pyramid on the garage door! It's the little things like this that make your videos stand out from the other.

My interest in these videos is in the process of creating, in the personal idiosyncracy how to explain how they are made, and I can only say that I really like how you (and your twin brother) do things. Congratulations!

Jay, just wanted to say thanks for making a video where you make something useful for the home. It seems like 90% of woodworking videos on TH-cam are just woodworkers using their tools to make more tools. It starts to become..what's the point here if you don't make something actually useful for everday.
    Thanks!

Great video and project! I'm not usually a fan of staining either, but you're totally right about picking your battles. It does look good in your house though. I really like that look of leaving the pieces 1/8" proud and putting a slight chamfer on them.

I really miss this type of content. Don't get me wrong, I love the vlogs and watch all your content. However, most woodworkers on youtube seem to be skewing the ratio more in favor of vlogs rather than build videos. I wish that weren't so. The build videos really inspire me to get in my shop and make some sawdust. Thanks for the great content!

Did some half laps at the weekend for a garden bench leg frame. Accidentaly came across the overhang idea myself, lack of skill and willingness to plane down pallet timber for the rustic look. It does give a bit more character to something. and saved me a headache.

you've inspired me to start carpentering.... and you look just like my brother!!! I've slabbed wood for about 8 years now but never built anything just sold slabs..never had the patience, or direction that you have..... I built my own sawmill though from scrap. If I could send you some rustic slabs let me know if you could just mention Three Rivers Wood Yard for me.

So, yeah, that'll be me making shelves and cupboards to move the stuff she wants in storage to make space for more shelves for plants. *mutters* Just keep saying happy wife, happy life... *mutters*

Interesting build. I think after seeing the hickory up close, I may have gotten some hickory pallet wood on my last run. I've been trying to identify several species of wood, gone are the days of just pine and oak, I now have walnut, maple, redwood (possibly) and apparently...hickory. Picked up some good tips from your video, thanks!

Cool build! Do you think you could do some sort of axonometric assembly drawing in the future when describing the project in the beginning? It was kind of hard to understand how the shelves attach when you started. Obviously if you don't have time to do that it's no big deal but I think it would make your plans easier to read.
