the sigh of pure relief I had at hearing you mention you researched before getting your pet was so insane. It's wild how common it is for people to go out and buy hamsters without doing any research on their care requirements. Great job!
hi! I think you did everything pretty well! However, i think hamsters are natural burrowers so if you had at least 6 inches of bedding for hamsters to burrow that would be great :) It's great enrichment for them
Agreed with deeper bedding. And to make that work I think you’ll need to put the heavy items that sit on top of it on supports so they can’t topple or sink. You might try and find some of ‘something animal’ or ‘Victoria Rachel’videos where they talk about compression of bedding vs leaving floofed up. She’s big and will make big burrows. Got to get that structure correct or you’ll get a tip over. I like your determination to give her a good home.
Great start! The birch tunnel opening needs to be 7cm wide for a Syrian hamster to fit through comfortably, heavy items like sand will need to be placed on platforms so when burrowing they wont be accidentally squashed but aside from that everything is great!!
And you might want to take the blue bed out in case she chews on it, she can use it with supervision though so you don’t have to throw it away. You hamster is huge! It’s adorable!
thank you so much for the feedback! i only woke her up for the video & i also usually keep the bed out :) it was all just for this video. i appreciate the advice & the kind words!
AWH I LOVE UR LITTLE FUR BABY OMG SHES SO CUTE 🥹 she reminds me of my hamster cake that passed away in november and this made me feel better seeing a hammy having the time of her life! ❤️
Hamsters can also eat things like meal worms too! They would naturally eat those in the wild. They're Omnivores. You did well but mix up the variety of food. And allow the hamster to burrow. :) and, you can sprinkle her food around the tank for her to find. Great enrichment. :)
Ok so that’s amazing!!!!! Everything is perfect except maybe give her a bit more paper based bedding so she can really burrow deep and also said you don’t have little stick things holding up the multi chamber hide them maybe add them so that if she burrows under it it won’t collapse on top of her!!!
Heyyy!!! Welcome to the Hamster community ❤❤ This is an AMAZING starting enclosure, it really shows that you've done your research and what a lucky ham she is 🐹 I just have some advice for you to help improve! Firstly, please add more bedding depth as the minimum requirement for Syrians is 8inches or more ( always aim for as much as possible) Always make sure to compress the bedding as well, without doing this the burrows won't hold!! Bendy Bridges are GREAT!!! But please ensure to fill the gaps so her little feet don't get stuck, filling with bedding or moss is great! Also for added enrichment I recommend some forage materials such as flowers 💐 Also scattering food rather than using bowls is a great way for added enrichment as they have to forage for it!! Female Syrians are notoriously hard to please and tend to get bored easily, if you need any advice or support at all please reach out as I am happy to help ❤ Joining this community can be daunting but at the end of the day we all just want one thing: A happy hammy 🐹
this is really great advice. i will definitely do this in my next video. i did scatter food around in the video but it’s hard to see lol but i will do the rest of the things you mentioned. thank you for this helpful feedback!
Ohh she is the cutest ❤❤❤and you did a Beautiful job, the small animal community is wild, but you did a great job to me ❤ my hammies name is Oliver and i just got him a big tank, I can wait, welcome to hamster motherhood❤🐹🎉
Very nice I will note that it’s not recommended to wake up your hamster unless an emergency or going to the vet the bedding should be at least 6 inches deep since they do burrow and you were right the small mushroom house is to small for a Syrian hamster, good tank size What is the name of your hamster and if it is pregnant be careful
I did forget to add this I would recommend getting supports to set your hides on so that when your hamster is burrowing the item will not sink and crush your hamster also when you put your bedding in make sure you compact it to make it suitable for your hamster to burrow
it may just simply be a weight problem, when i got my hammy from the pet store all they fed him was a big bowl of pellets which i think made him overweight , since hes been with him hes lost weight and looks like a normal hammy @@marentorri
I saw how u said at the start “I just woke her up” please don’t wake up a hamster unless is for a vet appointment. Or they are moving in the cage then they can go out. Hamsters of nocturnal, I have a hamster and I’m a night owl, that why I got them, also bc there cute. ❤️ please take this advice😁 also make sure they can get control of the wheel u have❤️I also recommend sprinkling food around the cage, make it smell better and is good for the hamster so they can forage
i only woke her up for this video don’t worry! i did sprinkle food around the cage in the video & i made sure her back was straight on the wheel as well! thank you for the feedback
hi i cant see if you did but i recomend scatter feeding and mabe a bit more sprays or moss other than that i think you did a good job its good to see content creators to do reaserch:))and mabe add a bit more bedding:))!
Female syrians can get HUGE I had one named White Rose, she was bigger then all other hamsters I've had inclidijg other female syrians and she was the size of a young guinea pig she unfortunately also had bumblefoot and a skin infection due to the pet store not giving her a good wheel but with a few does of a couple medications that the pet store had to pay for (they tried toxget out of it) she got better and since then I've seen them using better wheels I guess we helped make a change for the other hamsters there which makes me feel nice
The different spaces in the mintichaber hideput can be used cod different digging materials like tje eco earth, cor h grounds, sphangom moss, walnut shavings, spruce wood, aspen wood, hemp bedding, coco fibers like forest floor or mix of those or all of those. Sorry for typos im sick
Might want to change the wooden wheel to a plastic silent wheel cause ive seen that hamsters chew on the wheel and since they poo/pee on the wheel it caused mold to grow. A plastic one, you can just take out and wash. For the food i recommend brands such as JR Farm and Rodipet (idk if this is available in your country but Paragreen is also good) obviously all for golden hamsters and not dwarfs. Other that that your video was good, it was fun to watch
it doesnt really matter if the hamster chews on the wheel since its just wood, and if the cork gets soiled they can just take it out and put in a new cork liner
Rmemwbwr to neber use fluff or a hamster ball when theres free roam time there needs to be a dry bathtub, your bed making sure she doesn't fall (mine would if not warched because a hamsters eyesight is SUPER bad) or use a play pen making sure she doesnt climb out
if you look online, typically glass cases are used for hamsters b/c of the amount of bedding that is needed. wired cages wouldn’t fit 6-12 inches so that’s why glass is better suited. hope this helps!
I was scared until i saw you done research its great ❤! Many dont do research edit: any yall hamster not burrow but just sleep on top of the bedding. Mine does. Edit again: if you were wondering yes he has enough bedding to burrow edit again: ……………… idk

Once they are comfortable enough to crawl onto your hand, you can pick them up. I recommend watching Victoria Rachel for further information though. Also wrap up some small pieces of toilet paper and rub it on you, place it in the hamster cage near where they sleep or eat. They can get use to your scent with that too!
