Lupe is the goat. I’m saying this post tetsuo, post wave, post lasers. He been that status since revenge. Solidified it with the gorillaz. Cemented it with every album after that. Sadly, he’ll be sidelined as average til he’s dead. Then atomic mis philosophy will be a lesson in every poli-sci class
@SuperGlaurung What you fail to understand are the meanings behind the lyrics Lupe spits For example the line you called whack "My mind state rewinds wakes" is a play on words using the antonym of sleeping he’s asleep and yet his thoughts run rampant, "And fast-forwards bullets makin' a B-line for my face" dream sequence where he is obviously being shot Those are the easiest lines to understand the whole song is one big metaphor
Lupe is brilliant. He just described society for what it is....we're no longer humans but beings that are obsessed with materialism. Consumers that are consumed by Capitalism. This is personification at its best!
now this is hip hop...this is art...the difference between talented and gifted...a lot of rappers are scared to think outside the box which is y everything sounds the same...Lupe is a beast wit it
He used personification throughout this whole song to form an allusion displaying his views on hip hop culture as a whole, from mere fashion to the repetitive topics rappers elaborate on... Dudes a genius
I thought I'd never be able to say this, but this actually puts nas original piece to shame... I actually thought that was an impossible feat at one time
@PowShredder801 holy shit!!! myfriend u just blew my mind alllllllllllllll over again when it comes to this song. this song is what the radio and the elite FEAR!!!!!!!
@SuperGlaurung He's saying his mind (as we know is the setting for the song hence him saying "This is the mind of Lupe") rewinds him waking up then he sees bullets coming for him (Fast-Forwarding bullets) but then it stops like Neo (The Matrix) and then the bullets mock him. But one bullet ricochets and asks him if he,Lupe, is scared of the bullet itself or the person wielding the weapon. Then goes on to say that it will become a bullet-wound in an innocent bystander. Idk what else to tell you.
see lupe makes u just wanna pick up a pen and paper and write lyrics....its like inspirational how many rappers/emcees u know that could come up with something as intricate as this?
What many people fail to realize is that many rappers have their own style which is based off of where their from or how they were brought up. Its pointless to argue whose better because they dont rap about the same things. Drake was never from the streets so he doesnt rap about the hood. He raps abouts things that he has experienced so how does that make him fake? Lupe raps about his experiences and keeps it real just like many other rappers do.
i love how on a song like this where lupe just shows how skilled he is at rap / rhyming people are like eh eminem jayz nas is best whatever, when on a song like daydreamin dumb it down or conflict diamonds, everyone bows down to lupe / immortal.
man let the hater's hate, all they can do it show how oblivious to the pure intelligence and creativity that lupe presents in his music, if they want to listen to lil wayne and gucci mane, let them, hey they'll be in jail or dead in a few years lol, and if they arent, what they say wont impact much, all they can do is hate on the best rapper ever!!!
@KrisJake1 Been saying this sinc F&L came out...Lupe can do it all...Meaningful lyrics, story teller, influencial, UNREAL flow, complex metaphors, and clever wordplay. Not to mention that his lyrics are very versatile....IMO, he's the best lyricist in the game ATM.
the image is the cover of his album the cool, the 3 symbols represent his characters. the hand his the character The Cool, the lock is The Streets, and skull is The Game
@gartlefresh yeah i agree, i was like that for like 3 years, then all of a sudden after i heard EVERythING like 500 times, i just understood what he was saying. now anything seldom goes over my head. he is a prodigal genius
Lupe Fiasco the educated Emcee "Put the headphone on my mouth speak into my ears" this guy takes the complex English language and makes it his play thing with his diction and word play So sick
@QwarterZ1 But if so many samples are used, we'll need a reference sample to remember the sample sampled from the original. we'll call it the exsample.
@Fyeagass16 nas flipped the beat on hip hop is dead, the original sound is from thiefs team which was on street disciple. and yes lupe got the beat from him.
this song is the definition of personification
his lyrical prowess is so overlooked smh.
@@yoyoyoalimanThis is only proof of where this world has truly and always been headed. 😢
Lupe is forever the best. His bars are on another dimension. Haha.
On some real shit lol I was done at the beginning.
Kendrick Lamar
@@jayrusso1589 he cant do this breh
@@NoCenterTV Kendrick Lamar did with DAMN.
Just here in 2021 to pay my respects to this lyrical murder y’all favorite rappers can’t rap like this
This song is why people tell Lupe to dumb it down.
Those people are morons.
When people ask me why I think Lupe is one of the greatest rappers of all time i send them this track.
Jesus pieces walk around with, n hanging from they necks 1:48 that inversion catches me off guard every time
The picture he paints is legendary been listening to this track since it came out…Lupe Top 3 no doubt
lupe is the best rapper in the game hands down content + delivery+passion = greatness or real music
The is like the most Clever shit ever
Best hip hop song evr he talks about everything going on in the streets with perfect transitions
This song put Lupe in the God tier level for me.
Agreed. I wish his mixtapes were more accessible. This is genius level work
Lupe is the goat.
This joint is so crazy he just incorporates so much into his music its too sick for the usual listener too raw for the game the best rapper alive
Holy shit. I consider my self somewhat of an intelligent person, and even I felt like this is some next level shit...

This is personification at its best!

blew the fuck out of my mind.
lupe da MAN. he and andre 3000 have a lyrical genius that is literally out of this galaxy.
I can't decide which is better: This, Failure or Mural...
Mural is a bit unfuckwitable friend...
All crazy, but failure.
honorable mention Lupe The Killer but Mural the weakest to me of those to me. probably Failure
Mural
Mural is actually still deeper than people think, and I mean even among people who think it’s complex, it’s even more complex
He used personification throughout this whole song to form an allusion displaying his views on hip hop culture as a whole, from mere fashion to the repetitive topics rappers elaborate on... Dudes a genius
so much depth, I love it
This man is the reason why I still have faith in hip hop as an art. This is one of the dopest songs I've heard in a while. True poetry over a beat.
that song is just out of this world
lupe is the best
Love this dude!!!
Finally somebody with sense..Ur the first i've seen with Kweli, common and 3000 on the top 10..I applaud ur taste
Best of lupe. Period!
I just realized what this song is. Lupe writes a spec script for the most unhinged Pixar joint yet
Wish more rappers were this creative and lyrical, but who Am i kidding.. Lupe is a BEAST!!!!!
I remember when i heard the 1st time this track, i was wondering when he said at the end.
''This is the mind of Lupe''
Lupe is a genius.
Lupe is greater than a great number of even the all time greats.
Lupe sheesh classic
I thought I'd never be able to say this, but this actually puts nas original piece to shame... I actually thought that was an impossible feat at one time
Lupe is the Hemingway of hiphop. If you don't know, you better ask somebody!!!
My goodness this is one of my favorites for a reason.......#enjoi
Its bcuz his mind is #Soanimated
Lupe is sick !! :D
Hi-hats told the police/ he was just a soldier/ he did what the bass said

@SuperGlaurung He's saying his mind (as we know is the setting for the song hence him saying "This is the mind of Lupe") rewinds him waking up then he sees bullets coming for him (Fast-Forwarding bullets) but then it stops like Neo (The Matrix) and then the bullets mock him. @lutunene - The hook is a cover of a song called 'In A Gadda Da Vida' by Iron Butterfly .

🔥🔥🔥
@KrisJake1 Been saying this sinc F&L came out...Lupe can do it all...Meaningful lyrics, story teller, influencial, UNREAL flow, complex metaphors, and clever wordplay. Not to mention that his lyrics are very versatile....IMO, he's the best lyricist in the game ATM.

OMFG LUPE IS GOD. AFTER THIS SONG YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SAY SOMETHING NEGATIVE ABOUT LUPE EVER!
Wtf nothing will ever be this creative this is ridiculous
@mista2169 beat is from nas, song's called thief's theme. i think off the street's disciple album
This was in Nas's "Theif's Theme" also....i was wonderin if they just recycled that beat for the "Hip Hop is dead" beat ...
-Red Shaydez
@gartlefresh yeah i agree, i was like that for like 3 years, then all of a sudden after i heard EVERythING like 500 times, i just understood what he was saying.
now anything seldom goes over my head.
he is a prodigal genius
nah, his last was gonna be a 3 disc called lupEND, but he put that off indefinitely. his next album comes out in winter and its called LASERS.
If you like this, check out Lil B's I am the Hood
Lupe Fiasco
the educated Emcee
"Put the headphone on my mouth speak into my ears"
this guy takes the complex English language and makes it his play thing with his diction and word play
So sick

@QwarterZ1 But if so many samples are used, we'll need a reference sample to remember the sample sampled from the original. we'll call it the exsample.
i listen to Lu all the time but this on some next level shit

@Fyeagass16 nas flipped the beat on hip hop is dead, the original sound is from thiefs team which was on street disciple.
