Looking back on Sanji's first introduction and backstory with Zeff after Whole Cake Island, now I know why Sanji greatly respects and looks up to Zeff in a way that he'd bow down so low to express his gratitude for him. Not only did Zeff saved his life but he also gave Sanji a new purpose in life
Mhm. Sanji was always a kind person, after all being a chef is being kind in of itself, but Zeff's sacrifice and his teachings REALLY showed Sanji that kindness and compassion are key. Love to see it reflected in his character.
I think both versions exemplify a great sacrifice. In the anime he doesn't spend a second thinking about it and just rips off his foot to save sanji from drowning. And he doesn't eat anything at all in all that time. Being realistic, the amount of blood he'd have lost from eating his foot would've been a net negative.

He spoke in a way which he had never done before to Zeff, which is called “Keigo” in Japanese by the way. It’s the politest way to say thanks to someone for everything. There’s a dirty word in there, which you can hear as “kuso” in Japanese, but still really good because it’s so classic of Sanji, isn’t it?
the live action is terrible imo. it's okay if they want to rush cause the series is too long but hey, don't skip all the emotion parts that's the scenes making me into OP...

In the anime they censored Zeff eating his leg, and said he lost it trying to save Sanji because his leg was stuck. They did great with the Live Action. Oda himself said that when he started drawing Luffy, he imagined him being exactly like Inoky.
