I budget carefully and pay off my cc every month. I carry cash for “fun” stuff. But I am judicious knowing I only have so much discretionary dollars, so I often talk myself out of unnecessary purchases.
We just went out to lunch at a new restaurant in our area and if you don't pay cash, they charge a 2.99% fee for using a card. In other words, they are passing the merchant service fees on to the consumer, rather than including it in the price of the meal. We are seeing more and more places doing this, so I think this is trending upwards. Love you Dominique!
I also am noticing this trend toward charging a fee for using a card - even using a debit card. I'm just not going to shop those places any longer if I can help it. I know that more and more places will be charging these fees, though. Back to carrying cash, I reckon. Diane
It's a smart thing if you can afford it. Not everyone has extra dollars, but if you do have extra, it's a wise move. Just don't keep cash where intruders could find it!
This was a thing before Dave. My mom did the envelopes when I was a kid and I’m 60 now. I think Dave made more people aware of it when he talked about budgeting.
Banks should set up an account system of virtual cash stuffing so you don’t have to worry about having cash at hand. Not only would it be safe, but you can also accumulate interest.
I still use the envelope system. 26 years now! Works great and kept us out of debt.
I Love Dominque she does a wonderful interview. I’d like to see her carry her fashion and beauty talent on to Merit Street.
Cash is king!
I love the way she speaks and carries herself!
Dominque I’m here to support you

They are trying to make Australia cashless, but this method is popular with young, old, disabled, etc.
Seems like the envelope budget system was started by Dave Ramsey many years ago - very smart system! 😊

Wrote a book on finding inner healing after my Divorce at 50 called THE SUN ALWAYS PIERCES THROUGH to help other women find wholeness after a divorce.

Hide it accordingly, I know someone who kept 400$ for groceries in kitchen cupboard and someone he trusted took it...sad.
It’s the Dave Ramsey system.
Out of sight, out of mind! I would use the envelope and not an app.
