What an album. My cousin made a tape for me of this album back in 1977. I still have it somewhere in a box of stuff. I played it so many times that it's a wonder that the tape did not break. That is some dobro badassery, by the way.
After listening to several other artists singing Ginseng Sullivan, my winner is Tony Rice. I think Phish totally mangled and ruined it. Jerry Douglas is an excellent dobro player. This is a song that still needs that old school bluegrass sound.

I'd never be able to say I prefered Norman or Tony's version over the other. I'm just thankful for both of them existing and doing what they do.

I like Tony's version better than Norman's. Snappier and has more energy in my opinion.
