I visited this weekend, June 22, 2024, with my uncle, who was US Army Ordinance Corps, tank mechanics. We had heard it was good and were very much interested and looking forward to our visit! Let me say, we both came away with thinking our expectation were very much exceeded! We were overwhelmed by the size and quality of the collection. It is not going too far to say that the collection and quality of presentation are Smithsonian caliber. Fantastic, knowledgeable staff! Well done! Thank you for your service to our country’s history.

I visited on Friday, September 27, 2024. I was very impressed. They've really done an excellent job with all of the displays. They are very professional and I saw several vehicles there that I have not seen anywhere else. I have been to many of the big vehicle museums: The Tank Museum at Bovington, the US Armor and Cavalry collection at Fort Moore (previously Fort Benning), the Musee des Blindes at Saumur, France, the Israeli Armor Corps Museum at Latrun, Israel and a lot of smaller museums in Europe, Latin America and the United States. It was well worth the trip and the price was reasonable. The vehicles I hadn't seen before were first, the Jumbo Sherman with the 75mm gun. There is one at Bastogne Barracks in Belgium, but I haven't been there. There is a Jumbo Sherman with the 76mm gun at Fort Moore that I have seen. There is probably one at one of the big museums in a place I don't have access to, for example in Bovington's storage sheds which most people don't get to visit. Second, an "Iwo Jima" Sherman (with wooden siding to prevent the placement of magnetic mines, and spikes on the hatches to prevent Japanese infantry from opening them to toss in grenades). Third, a Japanese Type 94 tankette, a WWII SAS raiding jeep developed for the European Theater with added fuel cells in the back, additional armor for the radiator, driver and front passenger with dual Vickers K guns front and back and a pintle mounted Bren gun to the side for the driver. Fourth, there is a prototype FMC M8 AGS on display outside in front of the building next to the galleries. There are also a couple of other surprise items in the main display hall like a last ditch Natter rocket bomber interceptor, as well as a Heinkel 162. There is also a very nice collection of Japanese field artillery. So, while the museum is mostly vehicles, it is not just. There are helmets, a few uniforms, mortars, small arms, some artillery, a few smaller aircraft, boats and landing craft, etc. My wife, who usually hates these places, liked it and said she wanted to learn more about some things that she saw. My only complaint is that the vehicles were too close together, so it was hard to take good photographs of some of them. For a history buff, writer, artist, modeler, this was a little disappointing, but I was still able to take a lot of very good photographs that will serve me well in my reference collection. I highly recommend it to anyone that is interested in this genre of museum and has the money time and inclination to go. Well, worth the effort.

Would love to check it out. Wanted to fly in and visit, but the museum won't do anything to help you get the ~12 miles to/from the Dubois Wyoming Municipal Airport and the museum. Don't know why they can't have a shuttle, even charge $10 or $20 a person...
