Nice upgraded pantry! I like the earthquake design. I see some pantry pics online and shudder at the thought of an earthquake ruining all that hard work.

Thanks Miri! Yes, it gives me major anxiety to see jars in just precarious places! Lol. But then I remind myself that they probably don't have earthquakes like we do. I'd take earthquakes over tornados any day though.

@@HomesteadWithTessa 1000% with you on that. I've seen a few tornadoes and they still give me nightmares!

Hey Tessa so good to see you beautiful girl. Your father-in-law did an amazing job building your pantry. Oh my goodness I'm just noticing your "missing baby bump"😆Did we have our baby? And what did we have a little King or a little Queen?

    • @HomesteadWithTessa

Thank you! Coastal 9b but very very wet in the winter, delays spring planting a lot more than normal 9b.

    Hi, Tessa,
    WOW!!!
    That's my kind of pantry!
Those removable front slats are ingenious.
    Cowboy candy?
    😄😄😄
My Uncle Ed would have loved that. I remember him going out to his garden many times to pick peppers and eat them like candy or potato chips. I also remember an old rerun of the TV show Topper. In the episode, Topper has to go to Mexico on business. While he's working, his wife leaves the hotel to try some local flavor. She got more flavor than she bargained for. She got lost, asked for help to get back to the hotel if a man eating something out of a paper bag. He offered her some, which she tried. They were hot peppers, and they nearly blew her head off with how hot they were. 🤣🤣🤣 Of course, the heat didn't bother the man because he grew up eating them.
Have you ever tried making pickles from zucchini? There's an agritourism farm in the northeast Georgia mountains who used to make and sell them. They're GREAT! (Apologies to Tony the Tiger.)
You have that pig lard and beef tallow, but how about rendered duck fat? French chefs (and others) love to cook with it.
When you ran to put Kevin in his stall, you missed a good opportunity. You could have yelled out "KEVIN!" in a panicked voice a la the mom in the movie Home Alone. 😆
Thanks for another great video. I'm already looking forward to your next video.
    Be well, Tessa! ❤

      Hi Jim!
Yes, we've made a lot of zucchini pickles! Haha that's funny about the peppers. We love spicy stuff. Thanks so much for always watching my videos and sharing! You're awesome!

Great pantry! Good idea with the earthquake protection. I store mine in LG old filing cabinets I found. I was wondering your trick for keeping the onions and garlic from rotting? What temperature is your pantry room? Thanks for all the great info!

    • @HomesteadWithTessa
      @HomesteadWithTessa  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thank you! First step to keeping th from rotting is choosing varieties that are known for long storage. Then, curing them well and keeping them cool, dark, and ventilated. This is just the north end of the barn but it sticks around 50*F year round! Thanks for watching 😁
