@@RezaDorrani looking back at the Priority DD AFTER the Color(s) CB has created will show what I mean. Anyway I have solved it with variable that set value on selecting this Priority DD and set it's Fill property to white. THANK YOU!!

Your knowledge of Power Platform is one thing but your teaching style is something very unique and outstanding. a quick question issue I have with my app. The dropdown on my app has two choices Room No and Digital Only. I added a text input per your instructions so when users select Room No, they are provided with the text input to insert the room number. Everything looks good and the room numbers are being captured in the SharePoint list except the room numbers that are inserted in the text input don't retain in the datacardvalue. More specifically, it shows in a second and then disappears. I have the following codes: DataCardValue1 (DataCardValue)/Visible = Self.Selected.Value "Room No" txt_phyloc (Text Input)/Visible = !DataCardValue1.Visible, and PhysStorLoc_DataCard (Main Control Card) /Update: If(DataCardValue1.Selected.Value = "Room No", {Value:txt_phyloc.Text}, DataCardValue1.Selected ) appreciate any guidance/tips.

Hello Reza, great video and explanation, I have quick question, I am trying to have a form with a datacard that contains a people picker (in form 1 associated with sharepoint list 1), I want to allow only to list a limited set of people from a person column that is in sharepoint list 2. So that when form 1 is submitted it patches only the preselected person form the set in sharepoint list 2. Perhaps can you provide a hint on how to achieve this?
This is something I have not attempted. You could add a combo box control in data card and point it to list 2 which has the people list. You would need to ensure that data card has the correct format defined for a person type column. I have a question, I have a sharepoint list that is pre populated with a few user details like name, site and travel allowance. I want the default values for the form to be the values already captured in that sharepoint list and the user have the use only fill in the values that are not populated how do I set those defaults?

Great vid as usual Reza! I couldn't find a way to set the date picker field in blank (through the InputTextPlaceholder property) while also leaving the possibility of choosing a date from the calendar of that date picker, which should default on today. Any idea would be very much appreciated!

@@RezaDorrani Exactly, so the input text place holder does not do anything if I assign Today() to the default value property. On the other side, if I assign blanks to both the default value and input text place holder, then the date picker field box displays blank as expected but the date picker's "calendar date selection" (which usually popups at the right side of the date picker) doesn't work anymore even though it is required to select a date (Today by default). This probably happens because the date picker's "calendar date selection" doesn't know what date to default on.

That sounds like a weird scenario. You can use the form mode to check if form is New or Edit and then accordingly set the default value. I have not done this or have a video reference for hence providing an outline. Forums would be your best bet though irrespective of you getting an answer or not. Please not forums is a free platform and you may or may not get a response.

And they want in datacard1 names from that clients and in datacard2 want the names of my customer anwser the forms

Hi Reza - Thanks so much for your videos. I have a question about setting the default value when a form is in Edit mode. How do you set the default value in edit mode for a combobox? Also can you also set it for a label that is being used as a field that is auto-populated by the combo box (the labels don't have a default control that I know of)? They are inside data cards though but the original input control was replaced (the combo box replaced a text field and an text label replaced an input column). FYI, the gallery and the edit form are on two different screens (if that matters). Also, I'm using a variable to tie the gallery and form together. Thanks in advance!

In data cards, the controls and columns using lookup, choices etc is out of the box. There is not much of an impact on performance. Loading into collections will add more complexity.

Scenario: There is a loop back n forth for approval process, Upon manager needs clarification he returns a given request back to PM , So the PM modifies and needs to notify the manger using the same "Concur" choice from combo box but once you select a choice in combo box it doesn't reselect the same choice and trigger the wf in order to notify the manager . Hi I have linked a sharepoint list with a powerapps form. in those powerapps, 2 fields include "requestor"(type person or group) and "Department" (choice field). Applying transparent color to the fill property of drodown is making even the options fill also transparent. Due to which the backend content is appearing with drop-down values. Any other setting we need to do apart from the fill property?

I am running into a issue when trying to pass a user to a sharepoint form field-- I have both a manager and current user field (both people pickers in sharepoint) -- your code populates properly (visually) on powerapps show the users name and the managers name in the form dropdown but when I select submit (which just is SubmitForm(FormName)), I get an error "Network error when using patch function: The requested operation is invalid. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks for these videos -- you are a savior!

@@RezaDorrani If I have a dropdown and its Required property is set to True. I change AllowEmptySelection property also to True, will the Required property still be true/work correctly considering it is allowed to select the empty value?
@@RezaDorrani The "Required" property is checking whether the field contains data or no, when you enable AllowEmptySection it will confirm that data is present even if the field is empty.
Hi Reza, How can I reset a multi choice column (data source is SharePoint list) when I am in edit mode? (so the data is already saved on SharePoint) if I initiate a reset it loads the current record from the SharePoint list.
Why would you want to reset in edit mode? Edit means user can change whats set. If you still need to change, you can set default property of data card to blank() by checking to see if form is in edit mode.

Suggestion would be to get url of delve profile. See what param you need to pass to open a specific users profile and then use Launch and open that URL.

Your knowledge of Power Platform is one thing but your teaching style is something very unique and outstanding. a quick question issue I have with my app. The dropdown on my app has two choices Room No and Digital Only. I added a text input per your instructions so when users select Room No, they are provided with the text input to insert the room number. Everything looks good and the room numbers are being captured in the SharePoint list except the room numbers that are inserted in the text input don't retain in the datacardvalue. More specifically, it shows in a second and then disappears. I have the following codes:
DataCardValue1 (DataCardValue)/Visible = Self.Selected.Value "Room No"
txt_phyloc (Text Input)/Visible = !DataCardValue1.Visible, and

Hello Reza, great video and explanation, I have quick question, I am trying to have a form with a datacard that contains a people picker (in form 1 associated with sharepoint list 1), I want to allow only to list a limited set of people from a person column that is in sharepoint list 2. So that when form 1 is submitted it patches only the preselected person form the set in sharepoint list 2. Perhaps can you provide a hint on how to achieve this?
This is something I have not attempted. You could add a combo box control in data card and point it to list 2 which has the people list.
You would need to ensure that data card has the correct format defined for a person type column. I will also recommend checking on forums in case someone has done something similar powerusers.microsoft.com

Getting these values in Power app using combo box, So that user can search or select the value but once the form has been submitted successfully and save data in another list but when I open form in edit or view mode, combo box shows blank/ empty.

I did not understand the question. You can simply set default date to Today() and set input text placeholder to empty string.

@@RezaDorrani Exactly, so the input text place holder does not do anything if I assign Today() to the default value property. On the other side, if I assign blanks to both the default value and input text place holder, then the date picker field box displays blank as expected but the date picker's "calendar date selection" (which usually popups at the right side of the date picker) doesn't work anymore even though it is required to select a date (Today by default). This probably happens because the date picker's "calendar date selection" doesn't know what date to default on.

That sounds like a weird scenario. You can use the form mode to check if form is New or Edit and then accordingly set the default value. I have not done this or have a video reference for hence providing an outline. Forums would be your best bet though irrespective of you getting an answer or not. Please not forums is a free platform and you may or may not get a response.

And they want in datacard1 names from that clients and in datacard2 want the names of my customer anwser the forms

Hi Reza - Thanks so much for your videos. I have a question about setting the default value when a form is in Edit mode. How do you set the default value in edit mode for a combobox? Also can you also set it for a label that is being used as a field that is auto-populated by the combo box (the labels don't have a default control that I know of)? They are inside data cards though but the original input control was replaced (the combo box replaced a text field and an text label replaced an input column). FYI, the gallery and the edit form are on two different screens (if that matters). Also, I'm using a variable to tie the gallery and form together. Thanks in advance!

In data cards, the controls and columns using lookup, choices etc is out of the box. There is not much of an impact on performance. Loading into collections will add more complexity.

Scenario: There is a loop back n forth for approval process, Upon manager needs clarification he returns a given request back to PM , So the PM modifies and needs to notify the manger using the same "Concur" choice from combo box but once you select a choice in combo box it doesn't reselect the same choice and trigger the wf in order to notify the manager .

From your demo, when setting default values in a form, I understand that you set the default at the DataCard level. Is it also okay to set the default at the input control level? If it is, given the choice, which is the preferred approach? What will be the pros and cons?
Setting at data card is easier but you can also set at control level. It’s your choice.

in those powerapps, 2 fields include "requestor"(type person or group) and "Department" (choice field).

Applying transparent color to the fill property of drodown is making even the options fill also transparent. Due to which the backend content is appearing with drop-down values. Any other setting we need to do apart from the fill property?

I have one question that in my SharePoint list I have created an item and when I go and edit the item it gets autopopulated with the values that I have selected but one field every time gives error that please select the mandatory field even though it is already selected. I am running into a issue when trying to pass a user to a sharepoint form field-- I have both a manager and current user field (both people pickers in sharepoint) -- your code populates properly (visually) on powerapps show the users name and the managers name in the form dropdown but when I select submit (which just is SubmitForm(FormName)), I get an error "Network error when using patch function: The requested operation is invalid. Any idea what is causing this? Thanks for these videos -- you are a savior!

Power BI is ideal for that. You can add Power BI Tiles and Reports in Power Apps.

How can I reset a multi choice column (data source is SharePoint list) when I am in edit mode? (so the data is already saved on SharePoint) if I initiate a reset it loads the current record from the SharePoint list.
Why would you want to reset in edit mode?
Edit means user can change whats set.
If you still need to change, you can set default property of data card to blank() by checking to see if form is in edit mode.
@@RezaDorrani If a user selects a wrong date (does not match criteria) I want the date field to be empty (like before first submit) so it cannot be saved again as it is a required field.

I make videos when I receive multiple requests on a topic. I have a long backlog of videos lined up. I have already done 2 videos on leave request. I will probably not be doing a video on it but I have some live training in planning for later in the year. I might include leave request as a use case there.

Suggestion would be to get url of delve profile. See what param you need to pass to open a specific users profile and then use Launch and open that URL.

Question: I have a document library with different type of documents (Ex: .txt, .docx, .pdf, .xlsx etc)in SharePoint online. I am able to search on the metadata. But, I would like to search a string value in document content. Is it possible to search a sting value over content in different files?

I am not sure if searching within the document is an option. My guess is No.
