My friend and I went shopping today at a resale shop my grandson was with me and he's wandering around and he picks up this little itty bitty button box he started pushing buttons and making it squeak and my friend and I both broke out laughing she says that reminds me of Alex. I had to buy it for him he's having a blast with it. 🤠
Driving along in the truck every time he made that box squeak and he didn't like a few notes real fast that sounded like Alex my friend and I just bust out laughing we thought it was so funny and he thinks it's really cool and I showed him this video Alex and he liked it 🤠
This button box is in the keys of F Bb Eb Ab, but the musical system/ relationship is relatively the same through all of the Austrian/ Slovenian style boxes that I have with a pivot note (gleichtone) on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rows... (although the Munda does have two extra chromatic notes)
I guess I should have said "buttons" instead of "keys," but I get the gist of your answer. Thank goodness: it would be a bitch if the different instruments had different button systems!
Just wondering WHY the button box has a black dot in the center of the buttons? Since you don't look at them anyway.. Wouldn't it be better if they put the letter name with sharp or flat on the keys when someone is learning? This coming from a horn player
On this instrument I think what you’re seeing as a black dot is a screw that holds the button onto the rod. I’ve seen some people label certain notes- but considering that each button is different whether pushing or pulling the bellows that would get really confusing .. and have the player staring at so much on the keyboard that it would probably adversely affect the performance. I think of the notes in relation to each other and the key centers/ chord progressions in order to make theoretical sense and most importantly musical phrasing.
