I have one, Mine is a twin 50mm EDF - I stripped all the gear out including the nose doors and servos - did the same as you but used an AR631 - Flying on a 4S 3000mAh - did not have to use nose weight at all - also Took off the little rod on the back that would hold the pusher prop motor, it really is a nice flying machine for a FATTIE... I did cut some air vents in the nose (left and right side) to help cool the ESC's on my maiden flight they GOT HOT....yer landing is fun - fly at 60% throttle until you are soooo close to the ground you dare go and then cut throttle .. Phew......
It's got a NASCAR heart. Take a left turn. Ok, now take another left turn. lol!

It did look cool, but it didn't look like it would fly well. Great camera views., and good chase, with the fpv drone.

Well done Steve, Enjoyed this video with the chase drone footage. Not crazy about retracts on any RC model, all brands seem to have issues. Like the look of the fattie F-14.
I agree, I dislike retracts on RC planes as it just takes one hard landing to have a bad day.
Maybe don’t buy pieces of junk. Save a little and buy something that worth while. I still like watching your videos though. 🇦🇺

This plane is cute and fun to fly.
However, truly speaking, it is expensive; with this price tag, I would actually expecting it equip with twins EDF motor instead of a pusher prop. I believe if it truly with twins EDF, may solve the toque roll issue.

Reviewing the "right-turn issue" ...seems you had the gear doors open for most of your first flight....

Why is turning right weak? And why are the landing gears so fragile? I have seen other videos reviewing about this plane and it seems like a common problem? Do you have any remedies to make the landing gear more durable or is this just a weak point of the plane?
No remedies. unfortunately one needs to order replacement landing gear of a different brand or buy a pile of the cheap breakable ones off their website.
That sucks, then what other Jet EDF do you recommend that landing gear does not break too easily? Thx
@@jayilagan6228 If you are a newbie, get a HABU STS. If you know how to fly, then any jet by a big name company like E-FLITE has great landing gear.
The DJI FPV would destroy that Jet in a race in Manual mode

I used the fly a PUSHER F18 with an OS 46 FX nitro engine and tuned pipe 25 years ago (EZ Pilot kit) and it had a prop saver skid stick hanging down. Maybe something could be adopted for this plane too.

Captain we have a problem...lol It looks like anything that could go wrong on that flight did. But thanks to some great flying by captain Sully oops Steve we bellied in and almost scored a goal!! I have the Edf fatty and it won't takeoff on grass and the landing gear is very cheap and mine broke of on taxing

Hey Steve, just wondering why you didn't use a larger battery?
That was because I was expected a poor landing due to the landing gear. Every owner has broken their landing gear so I knew, through the grapevine, that too much weight would snap it.
It’s 2022….your shirt should say Buy-Crash-Repeat……gone are the days of building. Neat model.
In the RC Plane world, many like the FATTIE need to be assembled which we call "building" as everything is not snap connect or plug and play.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I remember when kits started appearing on the market years back....all pre-cut (balsa) formers, ribs etc. I bought one, but never put it together, I much preferred scratch building from free magazine plans....sometimes I'd make a hybrid plane by mixing plans....was a lot of fun and often challenging to fly. I think I enjoyed building as much or more than flying. Then, much later came pre-built or assembly models like the ones you are flying (RTF models). Good and bad I guess, takes a lot away from the hobby, although I guess draws those not interested in learning how to build for whatever reason. Maybe the shirt should read: Assemble-Crash-Repeat 😆

I really liked this video. One of your best. As someone who just flies drones, how do you keep RC planes in LOS with their speed? Was the DJI more than capable of keeping up with the Fattie?
That dji could fly circles around the fatty. lol
Some RC planes go very fast, but in the sky they are easily visible so it is very easy to keep them in sight and in range. The hard part is when you have 5 other people flying with you, then objects in the air can get confusing from a distance.

Practically all those add-on stabilizers require A,E,T,R,Mode channel order and use a serial input from the receiver. (S-bus etc). Unless you can re-map your Speky transmitter from the usual T,A,E,R,Gear, Mode channel order it will be about as useful as mammary glands on a bull! You also usually need the full OpenTx 988-2012usec throws, not the truncated Spektrum ones (enable "extended limits" to expand them) to make some of the required set-up calibrations work. 😜😉

Amazing. I like the way the thing that is following the plane and recording the video is able to do those sharp maneuvers while keeping the plane in shot. Got to get me one of those.
Maybe install two small props into the engine bay contrarotating and avoid the torque roll on the take off?
Great video Cap, tomcat looks cool in the air and your near miss with that tree, too close for comfort.
