    What if we could use biology to restore our balance with nature without giving up modern creature comforts? Advocating for a new kind of environmentalism, scientist and entrepreneur Emily Leproust rethinks modern sustainability at the molecular level, using synthetic biology to create green alternatives. From lab-developed insulin and disease-resistant bananas to airplanes made of super-strong spider silk, she explains how reading and writing DNA can lead to groundbreaking innovations in health, food and materials.

      You are a human being. Life is the purpose - it is not a philosophical question. You are to eat and to multiply. Why are we making it so complicated? Simple; we are aware of our limited days. But they are limited only in self-centered, subjective sense. In truth, we are immortal, but to realize this, one must be aware in the objective sense - reach mental maturity, accept death as essential to life as birth.

    It's much easier to get behind the idea of synthetic materials than the idea of synthetic foods. Some scientists are a bit too cavalier about their claims of understanding of impacts on health.

  • @erikanovakova97
    @erikanovakova97 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you don't address the origin of for example illness, but come up with complex technological solutions, overall health of humans will never improve. Maybe you can suppress some diseases, but other diseases and problems will emerge. It's good that we acutely can save lives with modern technology, but it can't go without addressing the cause. That's what the world and healthcare needs to focus on right now, the cause!

    Some things sound okay but I'm still more concerned about the effect this would have on the ecosystem. For an example, wiping mosquitos out would definitely NOT be a good thing for the environment. Improving lives of the humans isn't worth destroying the planet further in any way and we cannot foresee the consequences of some things mentioned in the video
