Technically speaking one could say he always was
And in some ways he was the one to create the villains of others
He drove the NWA to its paranoid actions that inevitably led to ECW’s creation if you look at it from one angle for example
Awesome job Ross and the team!
I don't think McMahon has gone anywhere, he's still calling the shots behind the scene🤔
It would be illegal if he was as he would be considered an outside influence …. But he’s Vince so anything’s possible
Loved this video! Very well done Ross! 👏🏻
It took long enough for him to see any sort of comeuppance. It doesn't matter what he did for the business. He did horrible things
I think people need to look into wrestling history a bit more outside of WWE products, it'll put in perspective how McMahon killed the US territories. Death of The Territories by Tim Hornbaker is a really good one.
@@lambchops1 people put him up on a pedestal he doesn't deserve. I was born in 1990, even I know what he's done...
@@melissaroszkowski8911 what do you know that you think he deserves to be punished for?
@@phantom8926 steroids he KNEW were being touted. Countless wrestlers being taken out by CTE. Making women objects rather than performers. Ruining Chyna. Sexual harassment and assault. Owen Hart. Shall I continue? I surely can.
@@melissaroszkowski8911 the steroids used by those wrestlers were still legal before the trial, hence why they couldn't convict Vince.
Concussions weren't taken seriously by any sports or entertainment profession until the Benoit events happened as unfortunate as that was.
Arguably, under Vince, women in wrestling became a much bigger deal than any other promotion, since WCW didn't even have women's title but WWF/E did.
The sexual assault/harassment allegations are just that-allegations until and/or unless proven true.
Owen Hart's death, while tragic, wasn't Vince's fault. I'd argue that someone actually effected and impacted by Owen would be a more likely culprit if you think someone should be held responsible for it.
This is probably my favorite Ross video, thank you for this.
Couldn't click on this fast enough
Brilliant stuff from Cultaholic yet again.
Yall no this should be done in parts lmao tell the whole Vinny Mac story for us
Still can't believe i got to go to wm 8 because my cousin sold a bunch of newspaper subscriptions! Thanks Jay;]
Looking forward to Part 2!
Oh how this needs an update now. Or a part 2 since well you know
This will be something to reflect upon in the time to come.
I always thought vince would die in the ring. Never thought I'd see the day
aside from a few "maybe that didn't happen that way" bits, a really enjoyable watch
i still think he'll return, and everyone will thank him for his presence
as for why he went away, it was his own money he was spending so it shouldn't have really had any bearing on what he was doing outside the ring, he'd "left" linda years before if you are be believe what you read
thank you vince
Finally, I was waiting for someone to make this type of video. Fuck Mr.Mahon, the Ruthless Aggression Era introduced me to WWE then 2 years later {2008}, it changed to the dreadful PG era. Then AEW came along in 2019 cause TNA/Impact was a disappointment after Hulk Hogan & Eric Bischoff ran the show.
Great episode. Alot I never realized 😳 . The final thought was BEYOND FITTING.
There's no doubt in anyone's mind that Vince McMahon will go down as the one who took his daddies fledgling of a wrestling promotion and converted it into the huge multi billion dollar empire it is today. On the flipside, the most shocking thing was when I woke up and saw Vince saying I'm retiring effective immediately when I was supposed to be like the pope and die in my chair I sit high above my empire I created and took through times where lesser would have folded.
Excellent work Ross!
Without him, we wouldn't have WWE but now that he's gone, another WWE Golden Age has begun....
@Willy Massey true but so far it’s largely been all positive
I mean it says a lot that the only negatives are problems caused a a la Vince that are much harder to fix by Trips and Steph
Namely: replacing Dunn, fixing NXT 2.0 and UK, and the recent issues with the first NILS class we’ve heard about
But he’s largely fixed or is fixing everything else: made titles relevant again, getting back poorly released talent, rebuilding badly damaged divisions, and giving more attention to a more diverse roster
Thanks for the video Ross and editor
This is what they call in the business foreshadowing
Epic and brilliantly done. How long do you think before we'll have the Netflix material out there? Also, I've been into this s--t for too many years ♥️
We need an updated version of this.
The editing in this video is top notch. Loved watching it!
I think we're gonna need an addendum on this one
Excellent job on this Ross. Your narration is top notch.
I wouldn’t call it a fall it was time for him to retire anyway honestly speaking 💯
Gotta make a video on the whole Sydney Lauper thing. Sounds like such a pivotal point in wrestling but none of these videos ever spend more than a couple of lines on it. How/why did it happen? Did she have a connection to the group before getting directly involved?
McMahon is the Heiachi Mishima of pro wrestling.
33:41 Vince coming back in 2023: I WILL NEVER RETIRE, DAMNIT
Crazy how Vince had an entire empire/ company to run yet he still put in the time and effort to be connected with the wrestlers and perform in each WWE show
This was done really well.
