  • America has a leadership crisis. On today’s classic edition of Family Talk, Dr. Steve Farrar challenges men to understand three things that are true about our times. First, our Christian foundations are being destroyed. Second, biblical Truth has been rejected. And third, our country is overdue for God’s judgment. Dr. Farrar, the founder of Men’s Leadership Ministries, also stresses the need for genuine godly leadership in society today, and calls upon fathers to guide their children through the cultural fog.
About Today's Guest: Dr. Steve Farrar
Dr. Steve Farrar was the founder and chairman of Men’s Leadership Ministries. He was the author of numerous best-selling books including "Point Man," "Battle Ready," and "Standing Tall." He held a master’s degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon, and an earned doctorate from Dallas Theological Seminary. On February 19, 2022, Steve went home to be with the Lord. At his memorial, he was honored by his closest family and friends as a man who walked the talk and finished strong. Steve is survived by his wife, Mary, their three grown children, and several grandchildren.

For anyone who might be confused.
Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.

do most people not just ask daily or weekly for forgiveness for falling short..that is what is was taught, of course I ask for forgiveness with things more specifically when I need to..I guess because i didn’t grow up in church it’s all very different to me..we don’t repent we ask God for forgiveness it’s the same thing except nobody tells others to repent because when you’re sorry and truly want forgiveness you go to God on your own nobody has to tell you to..God knows what’s in our hearts and saying I repent sound generic and not personal. When I am sorry I tell God how I feel, that I’m sorry and disappointed in myself, ask for forgiveness, guidance, direction..or whatever is in my heart..so when I hear repent from a pastor it sounds fake to me..like a priest telling someone they are forgiven for saying 10 Hail Marys..they didn’t even speak to God..even when I started going to church..it was a friends family church and repentance was never ever preached about..Jesus was praised for dying for our sins, we were taught to be so thankful for Jesus and what he did for all of us because we all are sinners..but nobody was ever called out for their sins..that’s personal between that person and God..and all sins are equal in Gods eyes, so nobody in that church looked at anyone as less then because they had more sin..it wasn’t spoken about..it’s private. Sometimes people would give testimonies about how God has changed their lives, I think church culture is very off putting and people will assume I’m saying that because I live a sinful life, I don’t..I just don’t believe in telling people to repent it sound like punishment enforced by a priest, preacher, pastor, by a human being taking their role to far..they aren’t God, they don’t save anyone’s souls..they can teach and lead a person to God but only God knows who he is saving because only God truly knows what’s in someone’s heart. Churches need to take a small step back..I believe in the Bible I believe in God, I don’t believe in humans that think they are somehow saving souls by forcing repentance, telling or asking people if they are saved..I was taught come to God as you are and he does the rest..knowing the Bible is the way to understand and know God but it’s impossible to be taught by someone else without that someone adding their personal believes…people have to have there own personal relationship with God..reading the Bible and what is means to you..it’s the living word..scripture doesn’t change but we do, and the meaning of some scripture becomes much deeper..the Bible is cloaked it’s a holy book..churches don’t ever dig deeper, they are usually being petty fighting over doctrine and telling others that they are sinners..I like pastors that use their own shortcomings when they preach…show they struggled at one time, or sometimes..instead of pretending that their life is perfectly perfect because they are saved..thats bullshit..all people have worry, struggle, sadness, temptations..most pastors today sound fake..I don’t feel the Holy Spirit in most churches.
