I guarantee they would not have! I'm a middle eastern/armenian woman and went to best buy and was way worse than troyce (because they kept messing up my tv delivery, one didn't come, one was broken) and I went in there and I told the employees I need to speak to a supervisor right now. They never called me aggressive! And even though the manager was panicking a little he never told me to calm down or anything. In fact he was extremely apologetic. I have not heard any sincere apologies from any of the employees in this video. I'm glad troyce is doing this. These corporations do the fake woke and BLM shit and then don't know how to act when there is real discrimination in their stores.
He has no right to ask you “What’s in your backpack! That’s like asking a woman in a store “what’s in your purse” or asking someone what’s in your pockets. Like WTF, that’s so inappropriate!!!! He needs to mind his damn business.
I do this! And if they start pretending to look at say a soda or something I start looking at the same type of soda beside them. If it's an individual item that they're pretending to adjust, I wait next to them like I'm waiting for them to finish so that I can look at that item for purchase. 😂

The problem is not that he asked you three times. It’s that he asked about your bag in the first place. That means the store suspects you of stealing. My response would’ve been, “Why are you asking? Do you suspect me of stealing?” I wouldn’t have left the store until I spoke with the manager. I would’ve then asked the manager if it was their company policy to ask customers about the contents of personal bags?

Confused how the “security” guard said that it was their policy when people walk in with bags to ask them what’s in it. As someone who often carries a purse, I have not ever, EVER, been asked what was in my bag. He was profiling you PERIOD.

@@swiggs_7 both of those people are white puerto Ricans. Latinos can be black white or brown. White Latinos only care about telling people where they from when they're accused of racism. Darker Latinos who are black or native descendant face a ton of discrimination

No Troyce , stores are not supposed to approach yu unless they know you stole and not until you're leaving the store . And they're not supposed to ask about your backpack unless once again they know for a fact they stole. You CAN SUE THEM !! We have 5 steps in the apprehension process for a reason!
Yea, I live in England and there used to be a show about shop lifters... The security guard stopped her but couldn't find anything on her, and was a bit worried as they said a guard can lose his job, and in fact his whole licence, for stopping someone who hasn't stolen anything... Lucky fir him This girl had stuff on her, but had a concealed compartment in her bag
@@dellawatson1669 yes , as you said lucky for him because he messed up . You get terminated for things like that !! You're supposed to keep constant surveillance so yu miss no actions.
Not every black person has experienced that. I haven’t and I’m 25. But I know things like that happen often to many people. We do not all have the same experiences at the same time. She was just being honest.
Not the assistant store manager trying to throw around the angry black person stereotype at you?! Chile I’m so glad you got this on camera. They always do this behind closed doors or when nobody is paying attention but bish they got caught todayyyy👆🏾😌💃🏾
There is no point arguing with fools. When they glared at you, you should have turned around and taken each and everything back and gotten your money back.
That’s what I did with Marshall’s when I used to work there. I wasn’t given any breaks at all (even with doctor’s note because of my medical condition) and complaining to the manager was like complaining to a brick wall. I end up writing a 2 weeks notice letter (with request to be forwarded to HR) and left without looking back.
I get not wanting to go through the stress of pursuing it but personally I think things like this might happen less often if they know they can't give black people the run around and get away with it. Most black people at most just get angry and move on and they know that. I've noticed a big difference in how situations like this have gone down after I got a lawyer. I know people that were being harassed by cops and were let go after mentioning their lawyer too. Oh course that won't always work but I think a lot of the reason why they get so bold with us it that they don't think black people will complain the way other groups do and that we don't have any power or connections. I'm glad he did this. I'm sure that location will be a lot more careful with how they treat their black customers from now on at the very least. Hopefully they end up hearing it from corporate too. This ain't a good look for them
I worked at a grocery store held different positions and The “store manager” definitely is lying bc in most grocery stores there is a office with cameras of the entire store with different angles that only the store manager and loss prevention (if they have them) can access, and also in certain grocery stores loss prevention are the ones that watch the cameras all day
If he really wanted to know if you had groceries from another store then why didn’t he ask that? Just asking a customer ‘what do you have in your back pack’ is weird
Which is funny because their culture is heavy on colorism . That may have worked on the west coast , but those from Ny, nj , and Florida , truly knows that Puerto Rican , Dominicans , Cubans , Caribbean Latinos etc have a culture that’s very colorist .
This happened to me in a Grocery store in London and I literally contacted the store manager. After I paid for all my food and left I was told to come back and taken in the back which is a tiny room and i felt really intimated- and ask to show my receipts, they started picking random things of the receipt and asked me to find them in my bag and show them- I said no that’s YOUR Job! anyways I proved I didnt steal anything and there was no apology I sent an email and contacted head office and they were very empathetic the store manager called me - apologised - watched the cameras and i informed me that the security guard was in the wrong and they fired him. They also said they would do more training with their staff on dealing with situations like these and gave me a $200 store card. Good for you I am glad you took this further

I am BEYOND over the microagression and use of the word "aggressive" whenever a black person seeks resolution to a matter!!! If your skin was any other color & you asked in the same manner you did, I guarantee that word wouldn't have been used & you wouldn't have been accused of being something you're not! It's almost a way to deflect from the overall issue at hand, and to make it seem like we're the problem. Gaslighting technically. Sorry this happened to you Troyce & this is the reality we face in backwards America
SERIOUSLY
He has no right to ask you “What’s in your backpack! That’s like asking a woman in a store “what’s in your purse” or asking someone what’s in your pockets. Like WTF, that’s so inappropriate!!!! He needs to mind his damn business.

Yeah. I agree this whole back and forth is so not worth it in my opinion.!’ At least he recorded tho
