The thing that I love about this steam locomotive it actually uses the winch spool pice as the funnel

Imagine this in the yards at a club meeting. A small rail yard with lots of props lying around, the engine mysteriously organizing and reorganizing all the cars and cargo by itself. Maybe incorporate a de-coupling mechanism, and perfect the hook’s “aim”. That’s the problem with Lego cranes, the cable just spins the hook around and never the way you want it to. Overall, a fantastic build, so much detail and functionality in a model so small. My bank account’s praying I’m not dumb enough to buy the parts to build it myself. Excuse my inner child but it definitely reminds me of Harvey from Thomas. Or Harvey’s inspired by the original locomotive! Probably the latter, whatever the case, it’d look fantastic shunting in some sidings, maybe a dockyard too. I remember seeing the video of the prototype on Flickr a while ago, and I never thought I’d actually see it finished, let alone a full demonstration! You’re a master at this craft good sir, I salute your efforts.
    Greetings from the states!

Many thanks for your kind words! We've certainly had some fun with this on our club layouts, lifting various objects about (pieces of track, golf carts, the usual..). You're right that the spinning hook makes it damn hard without 'the hand of God' intervening.
I wouldn't say anything about the model is particularly expensive, owing to it's small size. The Circuit Cubes sets are very reasonably priced for one thing.
Harvey from TTTE is based on a different 0-4-0 crane tank than this one. If you look up photos then the differences will be clearer.

@@technoandrew Y’know, before I knew about circuit cubes, I was obsessed with making sure my models were power functions and power functions ONLY, no third party sites or products, now I know they aren’t that expensive, I might start building some of my own models with them, thanks for the heads up! Also impressive is how it doesn’t tip over when carrying something that heavy, those PF Battery boxes have a bit of heft, especially at that scale, you might as well paint it black and write “10 Tons” on the side like in the cartoons. Just to note, you control the circuit cubes using an app on your phone right?
