Hebrews 4:8-11 is Paul asking us followers to partake in Jesus' rest, yes, but the seventh day is still sanctified because God made it holy when He rested on that day. (Hebrews 4:3-5) Jesus also stated in John 14:15 that if you love Him, you will keep His commandments, which also includes the 4th commandment. (Exodus 20:8-11)

This was to aide in the conversion of other surrounding religions who worshiped on Sunday as their own Holy Day. Not only was the day of worship changed to accommodate the surrounding converts, but many other traditions that are not supported by Scripture were adopted by the Mother Church as well.
