Extreme Ultralight Backpacking in the Texas Hill Country

  • Awesome weather, spectacular scenery and no biting insects provided perfect conditions for extreme ultralignt backpacking. This video shows my solo overnight adventure in the Texas Hill Country, USA. I plan to return to the same area for a multi-night trip, using the same pack.
    My fully loaded pack, without food and water, was 7.0 lb (3.2 kg):

    - Kelty Noah’s Tarp 9, 108” x 108”, Stakes and Cordage 1.9 lb (0.88 kg)
    - Dutch Tree Straps and Buckles, 0.68 lb (0.31 kg)
    - Medical Kit, Compass, Map, Light, 0.29 lb (0.13 kg)
    - AL trowel, Paper, Bug Repellent, Lighter, 0.24 lb (0.11 kg)
