This piece by Ligeti works especially in theatre mode like this, with a passing but enthralled audience watching. So many of the audience were captivated by it. One dear lady couldn't stop smiling. Long live the avant-garde!
You see so many things trying to be like this. But this is the real thing. A mass of weird details, a scream, a long pause, a bang sound. I love this piece. And this film too. I'll watch this again when I need cheering up; or reminding that humans actually *have* done *something* worthwhile during our brief time on the planet.
This, the first Aventures, and Artikulations where the things that make fall in love with the music of Ligeti. Then there was Le Grand Macabre, and so many afterwards.
I love Le Grand Macabre and so many of his other works.
Outstanding show. Bravo to all!
Impressive! I performed this (as percussionist) in college (Pacific Lutheran University in WA state USA) and it was a blast! We didn't do any of the acting as seen here, just performed it as a straight ensemble. The part at 11:41 where I got to smash a TV tray full of plates and cups was so darn fun I sort of ruined our straight laced performance because I couldn't stop myself from laughing! ;-)
Yes... laughing is NOT in the score! (at least not for the percussionist)
I am sure Ligeti would have loved your laughter. :) He had a wicked sense of humour.
The singers have memorized EVERYTHING in the score, and added quite a few things of their own. Never have I had so many satisfying belly laughs! Fun for young and old! Of course, the "professional" percussionist is supposed to play the newspaper part... but having the "amateur" singers play them is certainly an acceptable change to the orchestration... aww, the audience *shoulda* laughed when the tea set crashed! Brilliant!
¡Bravo!, ¡Bravo!-.
Iniziativa meravigliosa ! Nella neo-cavernicola Italia (alla Stazione Centrale di Milano come a Roma Termini) sarebbero stati malmenati
So sad that there are less than 600 views of this. It is brilliant!
the pianist looks like Bela Bartok!!
slateflash indeed!
Je me demande pourquoi le titre est en français. En tout cas, merci de nous montrer une mise en scène.
Obra de los años 60. Demasiado antígua.
And about Bach, what do you think?
Wonderful FUN piece of music, what REALLY saddens me is the audience that never laughed...I mean, do they think that everything classical is to be taken absolutely serious? :(
C'mon, this is hylarious!
you can see audience members laughing at multiple points
you can laugh on the inside
This is incredibly wacky. Ill watch this when im high probably
Let me know how was that experience after :)
La musica del siglo XX no seria lo mismo sin Lygety.
Quien tiene miedo a la musica contemporanea?
😐😂
