I insisted on going to the Trevi Fountain when we went to Italy for our honeymoon, because I remember being enchanted by it when I saw this film when I was a little girl. Thought the Trevi Fountain was packed when we went there, it was a still a great experience
Adorable love stories! Shadwell and Frances is my favorite couple. I badly hope dr. Martinelli calls that morning saying that all is right, they changed the names in the medical story and Shadwell is not seriously ill!!!
And, this film is a tribute to the idea that Hollywood, indeed, had actors who acted. For Clifton Webb, in the immortal words of Joan Crawford, was "as gay as a goose." LoL
Boy O Boy This was a time when girls acted like ladies. Little delicate beautiful girls. Not the liberated woman who act like men. What a time to live !!
I am all in favor of women acting like ladies. But when their husbands and/or boyfriends don't act like gentlemen, then bravo to the ladies for standing up for themselves.
The story revolves around six people in Rome but, of the six actors who play those characters, only Rosanno Brazzi doesn't have his name listed above/before movie title. There has got to be an interesting story there! I bet Rossano upset the director or some other bigwig involved in the movie.
Brazzi was not really that well known in Hollywood when this film was made. He had been an actor in Italy during the time of Mussolini, but went underground to fight the Fascists. This film sort of put him on the map with Hollywood and he became an international star after that.
@@williamsnyder5616 BUT! Well, you couldn't get more unknown than Maggie McNamara! And, with Rosanno, I'm sure that Hollywood were hoping that they'd found a new "Latin Lover". No, his lack of top billing is so glaring and must be to do with him upsetting the director or producers etc
When I was a little girl I always was a romantic and a dreamer. I thought life was like this and I wanted to visit Rome oh so very much. Now when I am all grown up and I have the chance to travel traveling alone is dangerous. Why couldn't the world stay the way it was in movies like this and Rome Adventure with Suzanne Pleshette. I hate to say it but I am no longer a romantic and a dreamer.
These three gals are supposed to be 'secretaries' and look at the palace they live in. Then try to remember Gregory Peck's apartment in Roman Holiday to see what reality looks like. This movie proves why Roman Holiday was better in black and white. Even with a great story, the movie would have been overwhelmed by Rome in color. This is nothing but Rome in color without 1/10the the story of Roman Holiday.
I read a book aboout the life of Darryl F. Zanuck, the head of 20th Century-Fox. When he saw a rough cut of "3 Coins in the Fountain," he was so displeased with the film that he took over a re-editing of it. Like it or not, the film was a huge box office hit and an Oscar nominee for Best Picture.
One of my favourite movies. The cast was great & the music perfect to produce the dreamy atmosphere for a romantic movie. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽👌🏽😉😎💙

I bet it was- "lucky you!"
One of my favourite films;great cast and locations.I can't get enough of Dorothy McGuire; her one and only husband was a lucky man.
Just watched this "Romantic Comedy". A very delightful and wonderful movie with the title song sung by Frank Sinatra. Time well spent.
My favorite singer, now and for always 💕🎶
Heartwarming escapism lovely ❤🇬🇧
Such a lovely film one of my all-time favourites 😍
If they were making it today, the studio would insist on making one of the three women a blonde!

0:36 Hahaha!! The original novel is titled "Coins in the fountain". Without "3"
If you look closely, you'll see the "3" is in it... Just not written as "three".
With huge respect.
¿Cómo puedo volver a verla?
Parece que la hubiese visto ayer...

Well, I think, Rome AND Venice.
I do love the palace... and I didi wonder how they could afford it! XD
@@Strict_Metaphysics They were paid in dollars and in the middle fifties dollars were like gold in ITALY
