I only discovered Fela around a year ago, thanks to TH-cam. What a legendary and outstanding contributor to music and to the causes in Africa. So sorry I wasn't cognizant of him back when.
As a foreigner who lived on Pebble Street, Ikeja from mid 70s through 1980. Sound would be blaring from Kalakuta all night back then. How I wish I knew then that I was experiencing a history in the making at first hand ?
Great improvisation of Chief Priest iconic composition guys: Kologbo, Benson, Tutu, Tony Allen, Baba Kofi (MASTER CONGALIST) Nicholas (Percussion) and many others of African 70 would agree with this notation!
It is goes deep into Yoruba spirituality and divination. I am water, I have no enemy. If you fight me you will die. In Yoruba they call it “Ayajo”, a curse to those who make an enemy of me. Recall in the song, Fela said ‘I dey talk of black man’s power’. A ki ba Omi de ota. A ki ba ategun se ota - You cannot also be an enemy of the air.
Sorry but not a good performance on Felabration. It's like they were playing at a rehearsals session. Even I know the lyrics than they. They didn't rehearse. It's very obvious.
The summary of the music is that water does not have enemy...... Everything you are going to do in this world you are going to need water...... From the birth of life to death.....

Did Fela and Bob Marley know each other or cross paths?
Ms. Nini yes they did. I heard Bob tried to visit Fela in Nigeria but Fela was sleeping and couldn’t get up.
That somwbody explain to me the philosophy behind this great song please?? Thank

It basically says water is life because you need water for just about everything that matters.
@@olukayodenathan9132 thank you for that! Never knew of this angle. Makes so much sense. Water is such a potent force.
To me , he's saying black man can't be fought. He compares water to black men
The girl didn't allow or give 2FACE chance to do it well
Still wondering how he didn't win a grammy
Looks like tuface didnt rehearse with the band.
That's what I thought. AAH. On Felabration? They could have done better
Selah 💚💛❤

Femi Kuti's cover of his Dad's "Water no get enemy" feat. Macy Gray and D'Angelo is quite better arranged.
