Byron Lee musse teef every popular song from every island in the Caribbean. This song was created by Red Plastic Bag of Barbados. He was saying that he can't understand the Jamaican idiom used in the Jamaican dub songs. I hope they are still paying him his royalties.
Got to meet the great man twice, once at SOBs in Manhattan & once at the Little Pub in Ocho Rios. What a great human being Byron Lee was. I'll never forget the show in Ocho Rios, it was my birthday (1996) and Oscar B brought me up on stage for Who Let the Dogs Out. These guys and gals are legends!
i moved from Indiana to Florida in 1992 and this was my favorite song. I couldn't understand a darn word spoken by the Island people... Thanks for the great memories!
Have both versions of this song on my iPod from Byron Lee and Red Plastic Bag. Never knew Red Plastic Bag originally sung this song. Love both versions though
Byron Lee (1935-2008) was a true Soca Ambassador. He took Soca to the world & was the man behind Jamaica's Carnival! Other than cricket which sometimes unify us he was the most unifying figure through soca. When will TUCO get it right and start recognizing none Trinbagonians artists that made a difference as a matter of fact TUCO don't pay tribute to the correct Trinibagonian artists, it all about friends! It is when an artists dies TUCO shed crocodile tears & pose for photos opportunities.
