Mate, of all of the guys who do tutorials, you are pretty much the ONLY one who explains every single button press, exact button press to ensure the process works. The prices 6 fit the Harrier isn't common sense and I was mucking up often. Now here I am and now I can do it 👍 Please keep doing these, rage quit prevention channel 😁
Thanks so much for this! coming from the viper the Hotas controls on the harrier are so frustrating and the workflow straight up feels wrong, but you killed it man
Damn. Thank you for the simplest video yet. I struggled with these last night thinking I was doing something wrong. I saw a video where they had the TPOD up as well as the Maverick sensor on both screens. When I uncaged the Maverick the TPOD sensor switched to the what Mav was seeing. I thought I was doing something wrong. Must have been an old video. I will work on this some more using your work flow. Thanks again and you got a new sub here dude.
Once again great video. One thing though I have noticed that may confuse new pilots. When you are talking about putting the TPOD in SOI, you refer to the command as TDC Down twice. You should actually differentiate between down and depress. Some people will not know that there is a depress function on the z axis rather than going down on the y axis.
This is one of the aspects of this jet that I have yet to master. Having purchased this in Jan 21, I quickly asked for a refund as I couldn't operate this as I did not own a HOTAS. However, I decided to purchase this again in the latest winter sale. Still no HOTAS, and I have set this up for keyboard and mouse use only. There is a lot more muscle memory using it this way, trust me, but I have spent quite a few hours just mastering VTOL, which I am pretty good at now and I cringe at the first few videos I have uploaded compared to my skills now. Great video and now time to master the weapons systems. 👍👍
Good refresher. That muscle memory keeps failing me because I don't do the IR Mav's often enough. Thankfully this video exists, so I can get past that #facepalm moment!
@@TrickerDCS Now thats just uncalled for, no man in their right mind would drive on the right. How are you going to draw your weapon and defend your self squire, you would have to use your left hand, silly man, the right hand is the proper way good sir. Draw right, defend right. 😂
For those who are struggling to get a lock - you might have to slew the tdc around a little bit for it to find the target. Took me ages to work that out.
i've been stressing trying to get this to work, this vid has made complete sense to me, thank you very much! would love to see lsr guided bombs tutorial if you ever get the time, Thanks again!!
Cool vid, as always! 👍🏻 Btw, hearing all those abreviations sometimes reminds me of the scene from the Naked Gun movie where everyone talks in abr. words. 😂
You can even shoot IR mavericks with only the cage/uncage maverick cam, and skip DMT camera if too close to target, or whatever. Its the faster way, but i mostly still use both cameras in harrier.
These videos make it seem so simple. So far the Harrier has been the biggest frustration of a module for me to learn. I spent litteral days trying to just do simple things. Everything is a combination lock of buttons to get it to do anything. Today I took off with some IR mavs to take out a AAA site. simple right. Nope. Could easily target things with the tpod and get the irmav uncaged and seeker up but it would not target lock on anything even when shit was firing at me and would not fire. I took out half the site with my gun and never once fired a maverick. I gave up for a bit because I was getting very frustrated with the whole thing. I'm slowly getting it but I have to take breaks to keep from getting too frustrated with the whole airframe.
Sorry to hear about your frustrations but always take a break and make sure you read chucks guide or the manual to help gain a further understanding. Keep at it man, you will achieve it.
Thanks for this video. You've pretty much answered all my questions regarding this weapon and how to deploy it. I've one question though - how come your FLIR has so much contrast? I play in VR and I'm wondering whether or not it's just a bad shader for VR.
Great vid, as I haven't touched the Harrier in a long time. But no matter what I do I cannot get the crosshairs to close and "lock". Cage/Uncage multiple times FOV (in white hot) and SSS FWD for IRMV mode, nothing works...latest OB. JDAMS and Laser MAVS all work fine. Using your test mission or one of my own. Only way to get them to lock is to slightly move the seeker head...odd
Okay, I so all of this and it works up to a certain point. When the seeker head of the maverick gets uncaged and becomes active, I'm looking at the target, but I don't see anything white hot in the MFD. It's looking right at the target but it's not locking on because the target is just as cold and black as the desert around it. How am I not getting the white hot image that you are?
I've run into a problem with the harrier and TOO tgt points, after a strike and im RTB, i cant delete the TOO tgts and it wont let me nav off waypoints, it will only show the T1-T4 points. Anyone else run into this?

Also strange that you can't fire maverics once lock established? it wasn't just me being frustrated! Also, is it possible to move maveric head? after seeing it fails to lock on target for reaquiring the lock? u just move it with tdc slew buttons? but u do not hit "tdc action"? i tried but that just locks on VV ? i read it should lock on its own, just point the head into direction and that is it.. but will it lock on buildings? or do you need Laser maverics for that?
Make sure you press sensor select fwd to go into IRMV mode and you can freely move the maverick around, place over a target and wait for a lock. If you’re trying to take out buildings then I would use a laser maverick instead
Quick question - when you say sensor select down do you mean depress button or do you mean ss aft? There doesnt seem to be concensus on this between airframes and reviewers!
I am doing the same test with TOO but the Mavericks does not get the traget and I have to move the TDC a little bit :( In any case it is pretty useful.
This probably a long shot but I do everything you say but when I go to uncage my maverick I dont get the maverick page. I am not sure if its because of the vehicle I am shooting at or what. I do the same exact steps in your mission and It pops up sometimes.
@@TrickerDCS So I’m using the IR Mavericks (it’s the 3rd option when selecting your load out). I’m not sure if I’m hitting the uncage button too soon. So, I go through all this bit I still can't get the thing to lock onto a target... and I think I know why. If I'm black hot, everything is black including the target. Then I see an AI vehicle go by my target on the road, and it's lit up. It's got an IR signature. So what the heck am I doing wrong? Why are my targets all cold?
try playing with the gain knobs & other dials round the MFD - I had similar issues with something else & found that one or the other dial helped make things much clearer
@@TrickerDCS in the harrier? I didn't see that step in your video, and I don't see that option in the mfd, unlike the 16 when using auto acquisition for the cc'd Mavs. Does the harrier have an auto mode on its targeting pod?
