Nice job, man. I actually built a replica of that guitar from scratch back in 2014, but couldn't find the proper headstock decal for these particular Mustangs. I'd love to sand it off and put the proper one on if you could point me in the right direction! Did you also use Cayman Green Metallic for the base color paint?
@@isaiahgamervw7306 Thanks for the response.. going to have to get in touch with them asap! Interesting, looks like the same color, the one I used was also a Ford color... Hey Isaiah, I’ve been wanting to do this exact same thing for a long time now and when I stumbled across this video I realized it was time to go for it. I think your version came out absolutely perfect, I had a couple questions about the different aspects of the guitar, hopefully you can point me in the right direction for some of this stuff! How many coats of each paint color did you apply? What were the colors used for the body and the stripes (links if possible) How long did you let the paint dry in between coats and before you applied the polish and clear? What clear coat spray paint was used? What polish was used for the guitar? What automotive clear was used?
Thanks! I don’t remember how many coats I did, I just used 2 whole cans of Dupli-Color Pacific Green Metallic for the main color, and rustolem vintage teal for the stripe. The dupli-color only takes like 30 minutes or less to dry. The rustolem I let sit longer, probably around 2 days to cure. Not sure what brand is the clear, I had someone clear coat it to me. But I wet sanded it after around 2 days after the clear was applied. And for the polish, I used Maguires ultimate compound
