  • The Chakesang tribe is based in the Phek district of Nagaland. Weaving is a common practice and livelihood among the Chakesang. This group of weavers is putting together cotton and nettle threads to make various clothing items. The nettle thread is made out of a plant that is found in the local forests. This video follows the process by which thread is made, treated and woven into cloth. It usually takes up to four days to make the cloth. This process was displayed by members of the Leshemi Women Society, Phek District, Nagaland at the Hornbill Festival of 2018.
