1) frames prevent that 2) if Bernardo tried to headlock from the top with the right arm, Mica would shuck with his left underhook and take the back. 3) when both arms and head dive in the head is too low to get headlocked.
When he enters deep or coyote, his head is glued to the opponent's chest and then his head is well down, not exposed. The video gives this impression because he does everything very slowly.

He is both Jiujitsu & Luta Livre Black Belt, he is using a gi but never relied on it for this technique, so it is easily applicable for gi & no gi.

There’s a variation I use with a lot of success where I use underarm to grab the ankle. Pull it to me and press my head into their stomach and boom
I use it too and jump straight to the other side and into sidecontrol

They can but it'll make them vulnerable to sweeps, it'll be almost 50/50
