The author of the manga, Makoto Yukimura puts a lot of effort into the historical parts of this story. (Besides Thorkell throwing boulders). Speaking of dumb deaths the real king Sweyne fell off a horse and died 💀.

Timeline:
1014: ASKECHADD murders king Sweyne
1015: A majority of this episode
1015: Einar gets to Ketil's Farm (episodes 1 - 4)
1016: Canute's rivals die
1017: (This wasn't stated in the anime, but I think it just wasn't important enough to include) Eadric is put to death after he had helped Canute poison his rivals. (It's a line removed from the end narration of this episode)
1018: Canute becomes king of England.

There was one king Harald in the past, who united Norway; some people escaped from his rule and moved to Iceland, becoming its first settlers. That was several generations ago.
Now we have another Harald, brother of Canute, who became the king of Denmark after the death of king Sweyn, while Canute was conquering England.

For the discussion around 33:40
Harald Fairhair was the first king on Norway that Leif mentioned once in like episode 1 of S1 and in real life he was in charge of Norway like 150 years before the time period of this show.
Leader of the Jomsvikings was Sigvaldi, who is Helga's father, Thorkell's brother and Floki's leader. The Jomsvikings were siding with King Sweyn in his invasion of England, so Floki was trying to get Thors to join that.
Canute's brother was also called Harald and he should be the King of Denamrk atm. Canute was in England and Harald was not, so Canute took the English throne for himself and Harald probably did the same with Danish throne. I haven't read the manga though and just making an educated guess.

Canute used to be so innocent, and now he’s immersed in violence and bloodshed. Thorfinn on the other hand is trying to move past all the murdering he’s done. I wonder what Askeladd would think of these two now.
Also I’ll never forget that y’all thought Canute was a woman for more than half of Season 1. It was honestly impressive how convinced you were. 😂
