    There are many temples in Thailand that share the name Wat Mahahat. The most well known ruin with this name is in Ayutthaya. People often confuse this temple with it. Here is the full video of the one in Ayutthaya if you want to compare them.

    The Buddha head and the legend is fascinating, 400-500 years the war + the fire and the chopping off the Buddha head.

      I agree. I would like to know more about it. You never know what treasure trove you will find at these old temples. I’ve seen so many of these images with the heads cut off, especially around Ayutthaya.

    I see a lots Khmer artifact, so it might use to be an old ancient Khmer town…

      It very well could be. I’ve never read anything about it but it’s possible. So many of these places were built on top of another city that was built on top of another city throughout the centuries. Interesting place though and fun to visit.

      @@endlessjourneytravels yep. It natural thing in history. But I was just surprised by how many Khmer artifacts there are.

      @@SirNova2o9 I was as well. I’ve been to this temple before and I missed most of them. Everything I’ve read or heard about it was it was built in 1354 during the Sukhothai era. I would love to know what it was built on.
