I had a class of 24 High School students when I taught English overseas where all but 4 didn't turn in their final Essay on time (and we had spent the last two weeks of the term, working on said final essay in class). The head of the Foreign Language department did tell me I could give them all Zeros (except for the 4) and basically their final essay (and I had given them all fun/funny prompts for the initial one) was one she selected which was "Why are Deadlines important?" (the other 4 students got an extra study period for their exams for other classes).
Tennessee also has the imagination library by Dolly Parton and it’s phenomenal! The books are always about diversity, emotions, or something that all kids can benefit from ❤
You guys are killing it! Love the content! Please clip the black educators bit for my comrades, especially those in leadership roles. I am a Black SpEd Teacher.
At my school, they need to have 2 puke/loose stool incidents before considering calling home. they also need to stay back in class or my paraprofessional has to stay with them.
It is very hard for students to fail when they don’t have all of basic skills to complete the work. I’ve seen it a lot with students not being able to read well in secondary due to missing skills they should I have learned in previous grades (ie, phonics and study skills, etc).
Hello, I did not ever want to be friends with my principal. I saw what happened to a co-worker who had been good friends with the principal and then they had a falling out. For the remainder of the school year, that co-worker had the life from Hades! The principal made that co-worker’s life MISERABLE!! It was a good lesson for me to keep my relationship with the principal ( at whatever school I taught at) strictly professional. BTW- some of the principals that I worked for were HORRID bosses!!! Thankfully l am retired now and do not have to think about any of this anymore. Elizabeth in Texas
I usually agree with yall!!! But I don’t agree with the first segment!!! I’m a general manager at a food service and my best friend is one of my employees!!
I work at a small school district. My principal was once one of my coworkers. We were friends already before she got promoted. I'm supposed to just forget we are friends because she is my boss?
We aren't allowed to leave our preschoolers in the nurses office without the nurse or another adult and the nurse doesn't like taking responsibility when she is in and out of the office I guess lol so they have to go back to class til parents come
I watched a kid throw up, luckily he made it to the trash can. I told him to take the trash can and go to the nurse. THEY SENT HIM BACK TO MY CLASSROOM!! And then he went throughout the whole day at school.

Absolutely NOT should you be friends with your boss. Goes in any field not just teaching. First to comment

Covid money! My district laid off over 100 positions while the superintendent got a raise. They knew the money wouldn’t last.
